2011 Labor Day Extravaganza Fun Fly - Richland, WA

Collecting ideas for a mostly electric* fun fly Labor Day weekend at the MAA field in Richland, WA.

Event dates will be September 2 - 5, 2011 (Friday - Monday)

* AMA sanctioned event (current AMA / MAAC required)
* dry camp at field or campground about 1 mile away
* food on Saturday & Sunday (maybe Fri & Mon depending on pilot count & interest)
* speed contest (using radar & smart phone app)
* raffle sponsors: Higher Plane Productions, hopefully more sponsors
* LMR
* combat?
* pilot registration fee of $15
* gauntlet? Perhaps some streamers across the field. Have to alternate between flying over and under them, then out the other end. (Thanks Tom)
* the egg drop (Thanks Hance)
* helium balloon on a string (Thanks Hance)
* toilet paper drop (Thanks Dave)
* Bowling (Thanks Aaron)
* night flying & SEFF night bowling
* night vapor pylon racing

club website: http://www.my2wings.com/labor-day-ext

*mostly electric - liquid fuel powered aircraft are welcome.

For the folks that are attending & don't have my cell number yet, PM me with your planned arrival date/time & provide real name so I can start on a pilot list. Also let me know if you're bringing your family.

Yes, a current MAAC card is fine. MAAC & AMA have an agreement.

If you have concerns or questions that are private in nature, feel free to PM me. My goal is an awesome event.

Would you mind posting the exact dates?

Sometimes the Canadian and American holidays don't quite line up...

So if there's an LMR competition, I guess I should build my Cularis to handle 1kW, eh?

I want to see a 1kW Cularis so I guess we'd better have an LMR competition.

My thought right now is to hold a vote via e-mail in July to get a feel for which events are important & which events to cut from the list. Also this will give me a feel for how many pilots are attending which will help with meal planning, event scheduling, etc.

I guess I should let my other half know that I'd like to go to this.
Should look at scheduling that time off.

If it helps your cause ... my wife & kids will be at the event all weekend. Spouses are welcome. If they don't like RC - we have more wineries than you can visit in a month.

I scheduled days off today so I will be there for sure.

I had a multiplex blizzard that was 650 watts and it was friggin ballistic. A cularis with 1kw should be very impressive.
