i would just putt it around on two tanks no more than half throttle...you will be able to tell when its ready for full throttle, it will feel different when its broke in..keep your eye on the temp.s. try to keep it between 170 and 225 degrees..do not free wheel it at all it can ruin an engine real quick..ask me how i know ha ha...congrats on the 509 and good luck

And do it in the absolutely biggest obstacle-free parking lot you can find. Since you need to keep the revs up, wide sweeping turns until you get the suspension and steering settings sorted out.

YMMV to mine.

I usually run my engines in on the track, and often in a race on club race days.

Start off with the engine obviously rich and drive it like I'm racing with full throttle bursts.Gradually lean it out over several tanks after the first two.

Ive never had a temp gun and I've yet to see a manufacturer recommend an ideal temperature setting, wonder if there's a reason for that?
Sight and sound will tell you if the engine is happy, better a bit rich than striving for that ultimate setting.
