Thanks Eric and Walt,

Tonight I cut the other side for the intake duct to fit into the fuse half to see how the ducts lay in with both sodes installed. I also got the gear doors hinges installed.

Hi guys just caught this thread and thought you might be interested in the air operated undercarriage I built for an F11F for a guy back in 2004. this was for a large scale turbine model. Can't remember the scale off hand. But it was quite big. I have some jpegs, and mpegs of it all working if your interested. The under carriage operated just like the real one including shrinking the Oleos to get into the fuselage.

Here is a good useless trivia question; What was the first mass produced aircraft to use shrinking the gear legs to make them fit into a small space on the air frame?

Don,t know which came first but the Blackburn Bucaneer also shrinks its undercarriage to get in.

P-47 Thunderbolt was the first, in order to clear the large prop and still fit the gear legs into the airframe they had to shrink as the gear was raised. I believe the Corsair also had to have that feature for the 13'1" diameter prop on that aircraft also.

Sorry guys no I don,t have any pictures of the F11F they went into. Made them for somebody who was having the fibreglass molds made by somebody else so I don't know wether it was actually finished or not. I did another undercariage for him for his own design aircraft then we sort of lost touch.
I do have short mpegs of them operating though and retracting into a mockup of that section of the fuselage.

Over the weekend I completed the intake ducts and glassed the halves to the splitter. I also got the fan assembled and set in the rails. I want to thank Mike Warren for setting me up with the Schubeler DS-51 fan and motor. When discussing the power requirements with Mike for the Tiger he had exactly what it needed. That is one Bad Ass looking fan. I fit one fuse half in place and the nose gear door looks like it will work. The main gear wheel is right up against its gear door so I might add shims to the bulkheads in those areas to bump it out. Next up I will lock down the intake duct to the bulkheads to tie in as part structure and wing support.

yeah your last two build are not easy ones ..the shoulder wing with ducts and spare and gear all running into each other is one reason you dont see these types of planes kitted that much.
