RCTimer BC2836-11 + Graupner 11x5 Elektro-Prop Thrust vs. Power


ESC: Turnigy Plush 25 A
Motor: RCTimer BC2836-11
Prop: Graupner 11x5 Elektro-Prop
Battery: Zippy Flightmax 5000 mAh 15C 4s

Averaged at about 125 W/kg.

Please, anybody tell me how many max thrust I can get from this motor on 3s?
Or anybody had graphs with 3s, not 4s? Thanks.

are you going to test with other prop`s 10.4.5 or 12x4.5.
3s is Wat the most use.

Hi, no, sorry, I don't have any 3s power units available. Or other props. The best I can do is hook it up to a car battery (close enough to 3s), but that would skew the results because of their low internal resistance (voltage wouldn't drop visibly), rendering the experiment useless.

So 8 of these will lift 12.8 lbs max? Not to bad.

When considering head-room however, and the fact that these motors would be at 100% to lift the given amount of 12.8 lbs, they could not function on a multi-copter at this capacity correct? So if staying with a target weight lift of 13 lbs the BC3536-9 910kv motors would be a better solution correct? Or have a BC3530 rewound to 700kv and run at 4s? I am considering this solution but need input from those more experienced.

8 would lift 15 lbs easily, they are 200W motors and I brought them to only 108 W (750 g). I couldn't go higher otherwise my 10A amp-meter would go poof :-)

REALLY? Thats very interesting news. I was just about to pull the trigger on 70 amp esc's and 3548 motors at 150 grams each. I need to look into this more.

Yes, really from looking at the graph the thrust-power relationship is nearly linear. You can estimate that top thrust would be around double the 100W value, that is around 3 lbs (1.5 kg). That times 8 and you get 24 lbs and 1.6 kW (110ish A).

Of course that's just a rough estimate, so take it with an appropriately large grain of salt

I am also testing this motor with different props, as you can see from the picture, the 10x4.5 comes close to Graupner , but the APC 12x3.8 is not very efficient on this motor.
I use mystery blue series 30A ESC

can you show the data for the 12x38?

I have 4 of these motors spare (28-36 750kv) 5 minutes test use only

8 each UK

I dont have equipment to log data, so I film the test run, the above picture shows both props, 10x45(top) 12x38(bottom).

Since HK just released some NTM motors that are perfect for quads, someone needs to test them out. Slightly smaller than the RCTimer motors but I think the quality will be higher, as well as efficiency.

I can't speak for someone elses setup but I get 992.2g thrust at 12.4V 18.2A with 2830 750kv motor spinning APC12x3.8 prop. It is not the same motor but usually a set rpm for a given prop produces close to same thrust not taking efficiency into account.
