I'm thinking of cutting out a triangle of the fuse behind the wing for the hot air to escape. (see the triangle in the picture) Is this the best option?
The airflow into the fuse will come from the turbo spinner.

I would cut like i outlined below and add carbon tow around the wing bolts.

When you insert large lipos you just need to spread the fuse open. the carbon tow will hold it all together during hard G turns.

For the rear mounting i would use Kapton tape. its stronger and is alot faster to remove.

Really? Hm....
The cutout I've already done allows for use of the 5S3000. Would really wish I could fit 5S4000 45C, but there's just not enough room for that.
Tape instead of a metal screw through a nut in the molded fuselage?

What about the venting hole? Not necessary?

Yes that tape creates a stronger attachment then the bolt.

The cooling hole is a good idea. Dont forget to get a larger hole in front of the motor, in place of the larger hole you can add one on both sides of the nose. Its best to do it before you mount the firewall so you can add a layer of glass and or carbon to reinforce the structure.

Darn! Too late for that
Looks like I'm limited to the airflow from the turbo spinner. Luckily I do have MPI heatsink on the motor...

No biggie you can still do the cut, your using a lightweight powersystem.

How is the wing constructed?

Think I can cut a small triangle (2cm wide, 1cm deep) on the top of the fuse 5mm aft of the firewall.

Wing is molded GF with CF reinforcement. I do see some wood in there but I'm not sure how much it is of that. Maybe just around the servo bays...

Static testing 5S


Did my first static test on Zippy 5S3000 40C today.

V-Max static 5S (1 min 2 sec)


Neu 1115/1Y, Kontronik 5,2:1, RFM 15*16 prop, Zippy 5S3000 40C. Peak 110Amp, 1860Watt. Volt minimum: 16,56. RPM: 8230

Think I could use a better lipo and get to 2kW...

A few questions for you:
Is that lipo you ran a bit tired or new?
What rpm did you turn that rfm?
Did the motor get hot during the static test?
