YCF DLG Festival June 18-19

OK Guys get ready F3K Tour contest.

This is our second year for this contest and we have an agenda. F3K is really alive here in the USA and we have a team to send to Sweden so we are going to help.

Fathers day weekend is prime to get as many DLG guys out and particpate in our toy airplane contest. We want you to compete but most of all come and have a great time.

Here is what we plan to do. Flying of course is the main objective. The enty Fee this year will be $45.00 for both days. This gets you the following.
1. BBQ Saturday nite
2. 2 days of great flying.
3. Awards to 3rd in Sportsman and Expert. Maybe even something for the others too.
4. This is the BIG ONE $5.00 from every entry fee will be donated to the F3K team. I have arranged to have a check cut asap after the event with my club to get it to the right people. Either AMA or Mike Seid so they can have it for thier trip to Sweden in July.

We will have other things going on to help with the team.

Jason Jones our Guru of the Web site will have Paypal entry fee setup shortly. He has told me he will also have a listing so you can see who will be attending.

So come down to the Charlotte area and have a great time.

Actually we will be moving a 1/4 mile from the field. The Co-Op electric company is going to let us use thier field. We can have a good field for the contest. A square inbounds and not skinny at one end like my home field. Our home field will be the alternate incase something comes up. Im not expecting anything but you have to have a backup.

My club is pumped for this to happen. They are giving me very good support

I'm in.

Jeff, I think I may even have an old Taboo of yours that I bought from young soaring sensation, David Ashinsky, to promote his F3K-ing. Nice home made bags? Green Tails? Likes trees? It ain't pretty in it's old age but it flies great!

I also want to throw in .02 for awareness of the upcoming FAA NPRM (notice of public rule making) as it pertains to r/c flying. If you're reading this and don't know what I'm talking about, please go to the AMA website or other threads and get ready to write letters. In short, the FAA is going to regulate small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS's) with lateral (1500') and vertical (400') restrictions on r/c flying. This could shut down great soaring contests like this. This NPRM is due out this summer with the FAR to be published in '12. AMA is fighting the good fight but we need to recognize the threat and be ready to unify our soaring voices if it comes to that.

See you at the field!
