I just had Youpi #73 delivered

it`s a very nice Kit ! Complete too !
can`t wait to get started with it.

unfortunately i forgot to take pictures of the Kit content, which i will soon as i`m back home again tomorrow.
But the GF Hull arrives with a balsa False deck installed, The rudder tube and Rudder installed with teh Hardware to attach teh rudder push-pull rods, and Beams for mounting the Servos. Sails are pre-sewn, all the Spars and dowels pre lengthened and already have the eyelets and brass mounting capping hardware installed.
There is a quantity of Mahagony and pine strips for planking. looks all in all very complete to me

Rosenfeld photos

Very beautiful classic sloop. I love the gaff rig and the gaff topsail, they remind me of some of the famous US photographer Rosenfeld's yacht photos.

Photo and caption, from pg 31 "A century under sail" by Rosenfeld, 2001, Mystic Seaport:
" Shamrock II and Columbia, 1901. Shamrock II on the left and Columbia are jockeying for position before the start of a race in the 1901 series. Judging from the way the crews are seated, each vessel has been on it's tack for some time. These big boats at the turn of the century had their close moments similar to today's 12 meters, though they occurred at a slower pace. On the wind, the old gaff riggers were a pattern of angles."

I would be very interested in seeing more pictures of the kit but also what website do you order the kit from? My french is pretty poor and even the translation sites are not helping. Do you have to email someone? All I can find are email addresses not a descriptive storefront or anything of that nature.

Thanks. I completely understand & can related to your situation as I, too, have far too many unfinished projects on the bench caused by my penchant for new, shiny toys.

I've been in contact with Dominique this week who advised the price for the kit for 325€ & 780€ for RTS ex-works. Bare hulls are also available for those who want to do more scratch building. I'm in China & was informed that another enthusiast in the neighborhood just had a kit arrive in Shanghai so he has no problem shipping worldwide. Send him an email at the address you'll find on the Youpi website already posted.

You'll find a lot more information on the following links but best to open in Google Chrome unless your French is better than mine.
