Thanks Guys,

The covering system is Ceconite (Like Coverite without the adhesive backing)and Randolph dope. The outer edges of the wood frame has an adhesive brushed on. The adhesive is a liquid form of the Coverite backing. There are several products on the market for model builders (SIG stix-it and Coverite brushable).

Then the fabric is attached with a sealing iron. This covering is super light (due to the no adhesive back and very shrinkable.

This is one of the same processes used on full scale aircraft. Once you tighten the fabric(with a heat gun) then a 50/50 dope and thinner is applied to seal it. "Rings like a drum" Light primer and paint next...

"Miss Champion" For now...

Oh rotor struts drilled from the inside out

Joe, what is the most accurate Blue color for that scheme?

Thanks,
Matt

I found this pilot on Ebay Pete1141 $14.00 1/6 scale painted. He has a few that look pretty scale and not the same old thing.

Not sure what he is looking at but he looks good! Well... I'm not sure what eye to look at either Anyway, I think he will be sitting in my PCA-2.

Cheers,
Matt

Matt I just found your build thread and WOW what a job, Another one to bookmark I think the pilot is looking at the rotor and thinking hope that sucker doesn't come off or I'll be up the creek without paddles. From the looks of the other projects in the back of your shop that this is not your first Rodeo, Very nice workmanship. I'll be checking back often BILL

Matt,

Are you sure you wouldnt want one of my cowls? It was designed to fit on exactly at the stage you are at.

DC,

I think I would like to have one of your cowls. As you can see I am at the primer stage of mine. My reservation with your cowl was that I already put the 1/64 ply on my fuse. Then I realized that if I cut yours to just fit on the very front of my fuse and leave the overhang on the top it would make a very good hatch as well. The hatch has been a bit of a struggle. So I will try your cowl out. (Sent you a PM)

I am working on the gear now. I am still staying with the standoff scale for now, but I did stray from the plans a bit on the gear. Pictures soon.

Just ordered some Robart 4" wheels they sure look big! Joe is that the size you are using?

Cheers,
Matt

Yea Matt I got 4" wheels too and they do look big but I haven't put them on yet too have a look see maybe we'll be surprised. Looking good I have a question about the covering you have on now is this a under cover for film covering later or are you painting this as a final step.

Regards BILL

Bill,

It is ready to be primed. The fabric has been doped and tightened. I give it a good week to make sure the dope is cured before primer and paint. That keeps the paint form detaching form the fabric when I tape off the color scheme.

I have had to work on and off the last two weeks so not much progress the last few days. I am able to put all of my days off at the end and beginning of each month. My week is here I should have this bird pretty close to finished in the next week.....Stay tuned!
