Cant fly enough
Greg Beshouri's Avatar
I just received my Poky after a one year wait.

There were no instructions. What are the recommendations on:
1. CG
2. Throws
3. Jantar, I saw you servo linkage with top mounted control horn. Is there a particular reason you took this approach?

CG: 29-29,5mm
Elevator Throw: 3-5mm
Aileron Throw: 4-6mm

Top mounted servo horns keep the bottom of the airfoil clean and is recommended by StratAir.

Hi, I'm at 30mm CG and to be honest that still feels a smidge nose-heavy. Aileron 6mm, ele 2.5. As to the servo horns I just put them on the bottom for ease. You are going to have some fun with this plane....being pretty small and extremely fast it can disappear quickly! Forgot to say there's 1mm of reflex.

I set the CG to 29 mm and AUW is 11.75 oz.

I had my flight today in very light lift on the back side of our hill in thermals. Other's were flying Libelle's and Le Fish.

Wow, what a great plane. As already noted, it is very fast and precise, going where you point it, In addition, stalls are very mild (much of my flight was on the verge of a stall) with a drop of the nose and no tendency to fall off on a wing!

For sure it is a keeper. If the wait wasn't a year (hint, hint Cody) I'm sure my colleagues would by some!.

That was exactly why I dropped it!
Waited for more than 6 months from skipmiller last year and no sign of my Poky.
I decided to make my own 40" plank based on Poky design, I called it "blank 40", beside the fact of having one poky style model I also can make it light, medium or heavy weight to get some speed dsing and not crash it on landings...

The flying season is back and I got some good time on the Poky yesterday.

What a nice plane! it handles light lift well and is very fast. It is also the nicest plank wing I have flow so far with very little speed/pitch coupling. Definitely worth the wait!

Once u get the cg right the poky rocks and is super fast in a huge variety of lift.
it's a real versatile plane that will fly in 6 mph. winds to 40 mph.winds at 10 oz.

anyone flying their Pokys?

it is my favourite plane now, I find it odd that there has been no activity on this thread for such a long time

here some recent videos, it is the (slightly heavier) carbon version (DS), this plane rocks IMO
