The turbine sound also depends on the motor, IME the higher the cog the more you'll get that turbine whistle. There's a youtube vid of an A10 using haoye rotors and scorpion motor and you'd swear it was a turbine or he was creating that sound some how with a speaker. But it wasn't, it's the Scorpion motors at low RPM creating that turbine whistle.
You are right about the sound. There is one more thing that contribute huge amount to how fan sounds - dynamic balance of the EDF unit. You can actually choose the sound to some extent by strategically dis-balancing the unit. That is something I am going to experiment with when I get my motors and fans. I am more leaning toward cheap sickle fans from BP Hobbies vs. 2x expensive Skyworld's.

Servos

Any recommendation on servos? Most of my planes have HXT900. They are reliable but noisy. Would be nice to have similar reliability with better sound and precision

What servos will you use?

I ordered 6 HXT900 for this plane. I have only good experience with these servo's. Some may think they are not strong enough for this moderately fast model, but I think the control surface deflections do not need to be big, so I have trust these servo's will do fine.

My last two 90mm EDF's have these:

25 oz-in of torque @6V.... plenty of power.

I used Hitec tech servos in my 90mm EDF's but there too big for this aircraft. How fast are they on shipping Chalmrast? Thanks for the info I will order them!

Those servos have great reviews! Are they noisy? HXT900 make that teeth grinding sound hrrr-hrrr. The other servos I have - DS285 make vzzz-vzzz precision sound and much quieter. I know it's ridiculous to judge servo by sound, but giving all other parameters equal I'd rather stick with something I enjoy

So how they sound compare to HXT900?

Hobbyking.com mostly. DS285 came with DX7 transmitter. 285s are very expensive though...

You can also get them at Value Hobby, which I think is closer to you. BMK is here in AZ so I would imagine 3-5 days to get them.

I have not used the HXT900 but the Emax to me is not that noisy. I have used MUCH louder servos in the past and I hate really noisy ones personally.

Rookie2008, It takes 2 to 3 days to get to you from AZ using Priority Mail. Depending on when I receive an order they either go out the same day or the next day. I use carrier pick from USPS so generally order received before the pick-up go out the same day.

Livery

This is the painting schema I like. But if I paint plane this way it is most likely be in colors, not B&W.

This one is also cool, but a bit girlish:
