You certainly notice the difference between flying a light 737 and a heavy one. Actually I like a heavy one better!
In the takeoff a light airplane needs more control input because of the lower speed, and the airplane tends to go more 'its own way'. The pitch attitude can go over 20 degrees, almost becoming uncomfortable. On a heavy plane the pitch in takeoff is about 15 degrees. On the approach you fly with very low power setting when your airplane is light, which results in longer spool-up times if you need some thrust. Turbulence is affecting a light airplane more than a heavy one.
So light is not always better in full-size aviation.

What is good fun every now and then: empty airplane (no pax, little fuel) and full thrust takeoff (normally we reduce thrust as much as possible while still meeting all the minimum performance requirements).

Most interesting read.. Was always curious if a full plane was anything like a full car per say.. Along those lines, I used to give friends "hell rides" on the back of my ATVs or motorcycles.. They would freak, I was always in control... Would that be similar in a 1:1 aircraft? Or passenger jet as in the 737?

Sure we could give passengers a hell ride, but we normally don't. After all they do pay our salaries, so we don't feel the need to scare them. We want them back in the plane next month to pay us some more salary.
With no pax on board we do fool around a bit sometimes to give the cabin crew a good time .

I am certain you are a professional and didn't mean to insinuate you did any "hell flying".. Suppose I was trying to get a sense of the "drivers seat" vs. a passenger.. I did a short stint of limo driving in N.Y. . Its a different style all together.. I am thinking similar to your cockpit office.. Have You had your Windrider up lately? And BTW .. Never commented but will now.. Loved your vids and pictures back that long ago.!! Cliff

Thanks for liking my vids.
I did fly my 737 recently. The wings are still bending like hell, but they hold. I don't fly the model a lot, but every time I do I feel excited. Still lovin' it.

Beautiful jet Major12


I sure learned a lesson tonight on useing vinyl.
I covered the fuse, wings, horizonal stab in white. I used a rather inexpenseve vinyl called Oracal # 641..
As I mention in a earlier post I am going with the UPS design.
I got some dark brown vinyl from a sign maker here locally.
The brown he gave me was a Scotchcal #220 for the rudder.
Geeez I can't believe what a difference it is using a better quality vinyl.
SO manageable and plyable.
Any wrinkles were easily rubbed out and the adhesive was much better.
The vinyl just stuck better to the curves than the cheaper vinyl did..
I would defenditley use a better quality material on the next one.

Pics at all? And from what I am reading the Oracal 651 is the 2.5 mil... The 751 is the thinner 2 mil.. Could that be a difference? Still all ears.. for I am approaching that phase of the build and still "fenceposting"..!!
