I went two nights fishing trip last weekend, the weather become bad, wind blow up stronger and stronger, wave 3 to 4 meters high, "almost" MIW(90 nm off shore) and no body know, I am so lucky end up just few minor injure on face, leg and chest.
Good enough reason to do free shipping promo.

Hi Derek,
Can't remember if you said that you are using thrust tubes on your
CS fans?
If so, what length are they and what is your exit diameter?
thanks

Wow, that was some serious dangerous conditions. 3 to 4 meter waves! Does MIW mean Man In Water? We say MOB, Man OverBoard. That would be disaster. Recovery in those conditions is nearly impossible. Glad you are still with us. And keep on fishing!

OK, back to 737

I tackled the landing gear mods tonight. The last significant thing on my list before maiden.

I replaced the stock soft 3mm struts with hardened steel motor shafts using the parts found by Spyro. I stuck with the 3mm shafts for now. If they bend, I will put in the 4mm, which need a nice drill press to do a good job drilling out the holes.

As others have stated before, the stock springs are too "stiff". Well, they are not too stiff, they are just too long. Others have cut down the length of the springs, so I tried that. It makes it "softer" because less pre-compression force is needed. The force needed to compress the stock spring enough to insert the retaining screw is 5 pounds. For my first try, I cut off one coil of spring, which reduced the pre-compression force to 4 pounds. So now, the airplane only needs to push down with 4 pounds of force to further compress the spring, instead of 5 pounds. I will try it, and can always cut more off later.

Yes, I did use thrust tubes. But not for the reason of creating "more thrust". I am after great sound. I have a theory that a thin mylar thrust tube will produce nice white noise. Since it is mounted only by a ring at the front and rear, the mid portion can "vibrate" as the turbulent air from the fan rushes over the innner surface of the thrust tube. "Vibrate" is really not the right word, more like turbulence noise. Random white noise.

The diameter and length are in my doodles somewhere. I drew a template in CAD, then printed it to cut the mylar. I can post the PDF, but it's on another computer....long story.

I checked my photos, and seems like I never posted the photos of the thrust tube.....hmmm. Anyway, here they are.
