Swist Outrunner project report....Oh wait, first i need to say thanks to Peter M,Yello,Jens,Rene',Kwahn,Marcus K,and DUP for all there help This is hands down the best setup i have had in this plane to date running on 4S (5 and 6S will be insane for sure) The launch is just nice, the speed is respectable (only 4S setup that was faster was Mega 16-35-1 5.2 w/10X23 F5D folder on 4S,but this was close, and that setup would not even work on 5S),and the temps are just amazing, all flights the plane landed with all parts less then warm to the touch the video is of the first flight, which landed with almost half the 2650mah 4S left.....The couple flights after i flew the plane alot harder seeing how all went so well, but did not video.....5 and 6S flights to come soon .
Swist F5D w/Outrunner,4S test flight (2 min 18 sec)

Well done Doug
I need a Swist!

Grtz René

@sebbe, He flew it WOT for about a minute, so his amp draw inflight should be around 85 amps.
This motor can take >150A for ~1minute!

YeeeHaaa...cutting edge, pushing the envelope...a man after my own heart Now you see why the guys in EU are using outrunners out on the nose with higher cell count...lower amps, lower temps and that motor is out there in the nice cool air. It will be interesting to see how far you can push that thing would be great to see it go over 250 without a turbine

plus greater motor mass (when compared to a geared setup) to better absorb all that heat?

That's the thing, there was no heat. The motor was cold, esc and lipo were warm and the temps in Florida during that video was 91deg f.

Hard to say at this point,I only put 4 flights on the outrunner, plus I need to see how things go with higher cell counts and prop changes.....But I for sure am loving the Outrunner on looks and temps alone,as temps have been my biggest battle.....On the downside from what I see about the outrunner is you need a good landing area, not something you want if there is a lot of sand and other debris on a runway...
