A few notes on the Ritewing Zephyr

Here is a short list of things that I have learned about my Ritewing Zephyr.

How to launch

For those of you who own a Zephyr, please do not try to launch it like trappy does with throttle off. Your plane will most likely make a brush with the ground before it becomes airborne and little "brushes" like this are likely to break your expensive props. Trust me, I've been through several of them.

Note: I've gotten better since this video.

How to attach fins

EDIT: DO NOT DO THIS!!! YOU MAY LOOSE YOUR FINS MID-FLIGHT!!! Instead use a glue called "Goop" (you'll want the "plumbers" variation). You can find this in most hardware store in the "adhesives" aisle. This is what Chis Klique recommends, and it works.

I've also found a great way to attach the fins to prevent them from breaking off on hard landings.

Sorry, I just had to add this one.

The wing wobbles quite a bit from a poor throw.

I think you're being a little hard on yourself, a small wobble is much better tha grazing the earth.

That is almost the exact same way I launch my Stryker, though I hold it in the other hand (aile and elev on the right for me) and a little further down the wing so the toss is more level. Best for keeping the fingers in tact (no chance of prop strike, even if the motor is engaged unexpectedly) as well as the plane in tact (no ground hits, and even if it swerves completely sideways it isn't a problem since your fingers are already on the sticks).
