Bobby,

The fuse is 5" tall (total...top and bottom) without the canopy, which is another inch and a half. The rudder counterbalance extends another 2" upward, and the widest chord of the rudder (near the bottom) is 3 and 1/2 inches. The vertical line near the nose is drawn with a Sharpie to simulate the cowling for that big radial motor.

It's a Sharpie paint job, then clear coated with Liquidtex. If not, it will come off on your fingers or flying in the rain/snow storms. I start off with a fine marker for the outline and then use a wide one to fill in, like paint by numbers.

The pudgy Pi, no matter how you 'toon' it, is a wonderful design. All that side area makes all the difference compared to my other skinny Pi's. Got more tuned into it last night out on the deck under the spot lights. Call me Gary #2.

It's a clear gloss varnish found in art supply outlets. You can also find a clear coat in the craft section where you find the water based acrylics.

You saw this one a little while ago, but took some more pics of it upclose.... It's a 15" diameter with a top cartooned, bottom only 1.25" wide tho... Maybe I should add another inch or two...
Anyway, it does fly as is, but our hall was too small to get a good flight in so will wait till we get at our bigger one on the 16th..
Installed a 10gr motor with a 480 lipo, I calls it my MAYDAY, it's needed!

Backend? Heck, it's there, just look closer, or hows this pic... Am ready to give it a whirl thrusday night at our stick N tissue evening, look out Balsa!
Actually, I found an old marker and while sitting in front of the tube last night, I did some doodlin on it... Now, if it don't fly, at least I'll be able to see it....

All that tinkering with the basic disk and beyond , led us eventually back to this which has been the best performer so far ... for me ..
