Mini-Review
Flyzone Cessna 350 Corvalis
Did you see this one yet?
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXADFW I am little Cessna crazy. This one makes no5 in my collection I have one other Flyzone. Its Cessna 182 Skylane Select and I love it. Thats my bush Cessna. She has 65mm wheels alway around and no wheel pants. Front gear which went out on me on 2nd landing replaced with a gear from Trojan. As for other Cessnas I have Dynam's Cessna 550 (turbojet), Cessna 310 (Grand Cruizer) and SkyArtech 182. I got Corvalis on Friday. Put it together and was ready to maiden it, but no place to do it. Last night I took the skis of my 310 and installed them on Corvalis. I maiden it this morning. Not bad at all. Plane is very light, so even with the added weight of skis it was tossed around in 10mph wind. I went out again this afternoon. I added black tape on the bottom of wings. I tried the included lights and they are OK, as long as the plane is facing you! There is nothing in the back. Another project. I have to take a look at my elevator travel, it felt like it didn't have enough authority. The flaps worked like magic. After I deployed them I was able to cut the power and park the plane in to the wind 50ft of the ground. It would just hang there. I did try landing and take off with them too. They will work real good on a calm day. I tried few maneuvers and didn't have much luck. Rolls were OK as long as I used rudder. Loops: different story. 150 feet wasn't enough room to do inverted one. Thats why I have to take a look at my elevator travel. Overall I am very pleased with this plane. For the first outing in not so perfect conditions, I think we did good. Rob |

I just started putting together Cessna 400 from FMS/Hobby King - it looks similar to yours, but not as fancy - it doesn't come with nav lights. I will have to take care of that |

You are right about it not being a sport flyer, but it does basic flying and looks good. Be careful with the front gear. Spring inside is a little light. Just throttle pull is enough to collapse it. I wrapped piece of electrical tape for now. later I take it apart and see if I can find stronger spring. Rob |

Dang worked late and now early, yet to even put this package together, perhaps my error but looks like flap and aileron match same servo, could be my mistake, more checking.
Yes most of these can be light on the landing gear so careful, will hold off for low winds on the eventual maiden. I have done night flights but perhaps need more lighting on this model for serious late flying, but certainly be a great dusk flyer. |

Hello Rob,
I just finished my Corvalis today. I needed to swap out the speed control. the BEC would not supply the required voltage and would cause my Spectrum receiver to lock out. Called product support and a new one is on its way. I will maiden tomorrow. Happy Flying, Jack |

My error all the hookups are fine, as thought I had a mistake with the flaps and ailerons sharing same servo, thankfully thats not the case at all. Its fine
Together at last, like the elevator hook up. Using an older SX600 transmitter but is computerized. All the movements are now correct, the lights were great last night too dark to fly but they really shine nicely. Will be a cold morning today but if the winds are down hope to maiden. Hopefully may have a video as one of our other flyers plans to be there. Fingers crossed for a successful maiden, like to see any other videos on this new one.. BEST ..<>.. |

Did manage a short video clip on landing the Corvalis, comes in very solid, one of my rare correct landings, very nice flyer.

Great plane!!!!
Just got this plane a few days ago, flew it all this weekend. What a fantastic flyer!!!! Very stable, plenty of power, no bad habits at all!!! Very very smooth!!! Power off glide almost like a sailplane. Lights look great!!! Great speed range too, from very fast to slow. Can't say enough good things about this plane. Just a great all around flyer!!! Very fun plane to fly
