Joe, that is a very good point. Not much left of the old SIG Riser here. I think that goes for Eddie's plane too. Ok, I'll bite. I am opening up this thread for a new name for my soon-to-be airworthy sailplane.
Any suggestions will not impede the log, just make it more interesting.
I will then pick the new name for it the evening before it takes to the sky.

Probably will look too pretty, knowing your artistic skills, to call it FrankenRiser or Riserzilla...Maybe HiRiser...or SunRiser...SkyRiser...of course I've always liked the Pheonix idea, rising from the ashes, but you really didn't destroy it, all that much, I thought, just left it in a tree for awhile! . Fun challenge with the name thing, but it's looking good Don!

These photos show the tail surfaces being epoxied into place. I made some adjustable stilts out of balsa so I could get it level and straight.

Looking good PP!

I set my cg today based on the Sig Riser Specs. I had to add more weight to the nose than I thought. AUW 48 ounces. I was hoping to keep it 45 ounces or less. Oh well, she'll still fly.

I cut a notch in the top of the nose above the motor to add a ounce of weight. I'm using automobile wheel weights from Harbor Freight to set the CG. I'll need to re sand the nose and repaint it. Then cut in the spoilers and set up the control throws for the rudder/elevator and she's ready to fly.

Hopefully I can Maiden her next week. I need to take my Oly III out also. I made a couple trim adjustments on it ,so I need to see how it reacts after the adjustments.

Now I can finish making some minor changes on my Pure 3M Salsa and I can spend the summer flying my Oly II, 2MChrysalis, 3M Salsa, and my new Sig Riser,I call SR Thermal Chaser (SR for Sig Riser). And if my back feels up to it maybe my Dlg.

I'm sure in a couple weeks I'll be looking to build something else, even though I told my wife I wouldn't buld anything for a while.

Looks like you have a lot to choose from. All of them good planes too. I am sure your Riser will do well. Be sure to fill us in with a maiden report.

I was thinking that if I combined the words Mighty and Riser, I could name my plane "Miser".

Naw, sounds too cheap....

That would better define me than the plane.

Maybe, "Big Riser"? That's not bad either.

It would never come down!!!

Riser Grande successful maiden flight!!!

Took the completed Riser Grande to the field to fly it for the first time after the overhaul. The plane launched very smartly and exhibited no bad habits. The right rudder is a bit sluggish but I think I know why. As it is right now I must take a book to read while it decides when it will go to the right.
But all in all it flies very well and just loves even the weakest thermals. The flaps worked perfectly and made landing the plane a joy.
I added some photos but my camera does not take photos very well at a distance so I did the best I could with flying shots.
I have just a couple of small tweeks to do but it is a joy to fly!

Thank you all for watching this build thread and all of you helpful suggestions.
