love IT. Brick is centered on CG so that leaves to motor/gb to balance the tail... kinda seems like it would be nose heavy... but then that depends on battery locaton VID PLZ..

I wanted it to fly straight into the ground...so I'm happy with it the way it is...lmao

ATTEMPT 2: I taped the battery on the back edge of the wing, gave full up elevator...and WOW!!! ---"flew" about 5 feet further, banked...crashed.

This thing WILL FLY. <eventually>

Update!!!

IT FLIES!!!

Oh man...it was terrible...but I got it in the air, and flew around a bit. I shimmed the motor mount up a bit, which took away the tendency to nose dive immediately. However, my little rocker arm got sticky, and the port aileron would only go up...so I had to work the sticks like a maniac to keep it from banking left. The slightest bit of left/right input resulted in a see-saw of despair...

But hey...it flew!

Congrats, it flies! Now you get to 'fine tune' the COG, and trim the control surface. Might need to adjust the angle of the motor, too!

It is with a heavy heart that I am reporting...the GB-5000 project is grounded indefinitely. I had a meeting between myself, my Champ, and the bricks on the side of my house. Ironically, the impact with the bricks, broke the plane's brick...the day after I sent an extra one to another RCG member in a trade for a micro Sukhoi ARF. I've got parts for the esc/rx coming, so that'll be going into the Suk.

So...we're paused for now.

You nosed your Champ in to a brick wall and the brick died? This is the first I've heard of the brick going from a collision like that. What happens when you try to power it up?

The pieces of the brick that were still in tact were fine...I shattered the elevator servo (big) gear...

HZ sells replacement servos. If the gear is the only problem, it sounds like a simple fix.
