I have been using spring loaded elevators and rudders for about 10 years.
Different spring configurations,different results,flutter sometimes.
But since I started to use double spring ,no flutter even with 16MPH winds.

Imagine the sadness..............

I was building the Helios #2 and wanted to make sure I put the wire sleeves for the fuse and wing joining area in the exact same place so I could use the part from each to mix and match if needed.

Well............ that is not going to work as the wing is crooked as a B.C. on the old fuse and new wing.....

What is going on here? has the mold changed? The picture shows wing when both front bolts are in place.

Take a dremel tungsten 1/8" bit and drift the holes in the correct direction. Put wax all over the fuse and holes. Wax the bolts and the bottom of the wing. Stick some epoxy and flox into the wing holes with the bolts in the wing, then attach the wing to the fuse. Let this cure, then remove the wing and bolts, drill the bolt holes out, then add a small piece of carbon into the recess area of the bolts with some epoxy and tighten it down.

Had to do this with my plane. It holds up quite well. PITA, but worth it for how it flies!

1 revolution and throw!
hi,

i have had problems with the holes in the past , i suggest to bolt on the new wing on the old fuselage with the rear hole and 1 hole in front , check for wing allignment (perpendicular to the tailboom) and see where the other hole needs to be to fit the last bolt .

file/drill this hole so the bolt fit's , i won't be to much .

now the wing fits both fuselages .

Thanks Kristof. I will give it a shot after I fly her a few times. I need to get her done by the weekend for a contest and am intimidated by drilling on the beautiful wing.

Shoot, it'll take you a month or two before you get up enough nerve just to cut out the servo bays

Is there a spar in the rudder on the veil tails? Or is it just the cf on the surface on the foam?

Just wondering where to cut the rudder circuit board thing at and dont want to mess it up.

hi jon, excactly at 30mm from the LE there's a cf piece (3x0.4mm), when you hold it in the light correctly should be able to see a line at 30mm .

cut fore or after this carbon so the connector can be glued to it

Thanks Kristoff! I suspected it was there as thats where those pics showed, but I figure its easier to ask, than to patch up a mess! It was right where you said it would be.

Cant see the spar even under a very bright light though on my rudder.

#2 Vlad is definitely lighter by a fair amount! Same exact equipment less CR blade in #1.

Still needed 8 grams in the nose to get her to fly better. At first she was like a leaf in the breeze.

hi jon,

nice weight , i got mine 4 grams lighter in the past , i moved the vertical tail as much forward is i could , since it has less weight to damp on launch i figured out it would not be a problem..

enjoy it!
