new launch height record for my helios with a lot of wind.... and 348gr:

63 and 66 meters... the wind was to strong for me to fly correctly, but the launch was like a rocket!

correction: my helios is 303gr, but with the 45gr ballast i was using yesterday it was 348!

i know it's something heavy, but the Dbox+disser wing came with premount servos, and i use AR6255 + 2x S3154 + lipo 2S350 + openaltimeter with regulador. and 12grs in the noise to get 73mm CG...
Maybe this Helios was something tail Heavy, but it flies very nice.
i get it in September, and i'm really happy with it. Just need some wind to get competitive.

Regards

Benjamin

Well, you do an awesome job manufacturing! She's balanced and programmed, and I'm waiting for the battery to finish charging. It's a beautiful day out, so I'm hoping for an awesome afternoon of flying!

The wind decided to pick up while I was getting everything finished, so I'm going to have to wait to maiden until later this week I guess.

Ok, so the wind died down a bit, and I took the Helios outside. It was still kinda windy, but I decided to give her a couple of gentle tosses. No sun, cold wind, and a 6 1/2 minute maiden flight. This plane launches higher with just a light toss than any plane I've launched with my hardest throw. I need the wind to die down a bit so I can really trim her out, but this is one awesome plane!

Perfect day out, and I am home sick..... but tell you what, I was flippin the Helios the other day after work and got suckered into downwind lift and couldnt make it back as far as I should have. At about 10' off the ground and a few hundred feet away the Helios disappeared! Luckily a little flap action made her more than visible & I was able to land her nice and soft! Luckily the flaps light the neighborhood up when you drop them on my sunburst Helios!

Ok, so I got off my rear and built a plane. I had an issue with the front wing bolts being off center, but I repotted them and drilled my own. Everything else was a smooth sailing.
