My Edge EXP is "bar none" the best 48" class plane I have flown. I have had a bunch of the other popular brand 48" size planes and they were always lacking something at one end of the performance envelope or the other. But this Edge compromises nothing, just a great flying plane.

I'm really looking forward to the 60" Edge and will be picking up a 48" MXS for spring also. By the way, is there an email notification list I can get on for the 60" or do I just need to keep watching on the 60" thread for pre-orders?

So the next question for Chris is: are there any new 48" EXP's on the horizon?

Damm. I was going to buy the red/white/blue, but now I have to buy the red/yellow/black too. This is getting expensive.

Dawg, your SFG' are different, aren't they? Not just recovered red?

The red looks great as they don't stand out as much!

I had to rebuild them after a lot of knife edge abuse. While I was doing that I made a quick substitute set set from 6mm depron. I have since gone back to the original black SFG's, and have been abusing them again.

My EXP tracks so solid and true like on rails, but when I try 3D flying/harrier, I get a decent amount of wing rock. I've tried moving the battery to different locations, but not having much success. Setup is Torque 2814/820 motor, 12x6 prop, 4s 2200 packs, Hitec HS-65mgs all around and fly with the SFG's. Any suggestions? Is the EXP fairly CG senstive?

How is your elevator throw? Perhaps too much?

It's not really rock. It's just that with a full 88 degrees of elevator movement harrier can be a little tricky. With that much throw it is easy to rotate the plane so hard that you dump whatever partial lift you are getting off the airframe. In harrier you are right on the ragged edge of a complete stall, and having the elevator authority to rotate past the critical angle of attack can put you over the edge.

Once I figured this out I started concentrating on using less elevator in harrier and that helped. We have never had this kind of elevator movement to play with before, so it's a bit of a learning process.

Lately I've been setting my low rate for 100% rudder and ailerons, and dropping the elevator to 50 degrees. Basically, all I have is a high/low for the elevator only. Low is my harrier and general flying around rate, and I use the high rate for tumbles, walls, parachites, etc. This works well, but I'de rather fly on just one rate, so I have just learned to fly the plane on high rate and work on getting my harrier better.

I did not think about that, I do think I have quite a bit. I will give that a shot. Thanks.

Thanks to you too, Doc, makes sense. It's easy to think, "hey, I've got all this throw, let's crank it up!" and not considering any adverse affects it may have. I'm going to try turning it down some and see what happens.

Now that I am working with 2 variables, (battery placement and elevator throw) is battery against the wing spar a good place to start? I don't remember where the CG location is, but I usually assume balance on the spar.

thomer, Doc is spot on. The 80 degree elevator throw is great for tumbles, flips, waterfalls, etc. but can make harriering the plane a bit more difficult, especially if you are just learning the maneuver. I would suggest setting up a 45 degree rate to practice harriering the EXP. It is without a doubt one of the easiest planes to harrier ever. Shoot for a hands-off inverted (neutral) CG.
