Did you ever cover and fly the Moth Minor? I am thinking of doing a build for the Free Flight to RC Flight Kitbash Contest >> Starts 17 Nov thread at https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1755366.
BTW, I really like your foam build at 180% and will probably do that next. I read a lot of your posts and talk about Fred's Secret Sauce a lot after I started using it. Thanks for all of your information. |

First I walk by 'them Bones' everyday and think "I should get that thing finished" LOL. I am guessing this thing is one of the older projects sitting waiting. It sure is a beauty though and maybe you have motivated me........ Last year on this very date, I was hospitalized with Strep Pnemonia and almost died (no laughs or applauding please) . Then 6 months I was so weak that not much got done. I actually just got to treating our deck today which is a job that I should have done last Spring. Go figure, but better late than never! At least I beat the snow! But on a happy note, one year and two days ago I became an ex-smoker. TaDa, now over 1 year and going strong. Life is good. Thanks for reading my posts and liking my Secret sauce. It is cool to have been helpful to my fellow modelers. So if you want to do the Moth Minor I would suggest it is a great build and went together good. Just watch the wing panels and maybe pick one side and reverse it for the other because as the plan prints out, they are not exactly the same. Could have been designed that way so it would circle as a FF model. Take care and lets get some Moths in the air! Fred |

Thanks for the info. Sorry to hear about your illness and long recovery. On the smoking side, I switched from analog to electronic cigarettes a little over two years ago and that has made a big difference to be an ex-smoker. Congrats on that.
I just started working with the plans and thought there was something strange about the wings. Based on your input I will try to draw up the wings on one sheet. I have also been studying the three views and photos to get an idea of where to put the ailerons. I first "discovered' you on the SEMFF combat thread. I built a Tucano (my first Secret Sauce) and started on an ME-109 VLF. Also cut a Tucano, Zero and Mustang for friends. My Tucano was underpowered and I am still in the process of getting better power for it. BTW, my build thread is at https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...3#post23182240. |

Jim,
Thanks for the link to your Moth Minor build, and everyone else should check out Jim's Moth Minor Build Here. I too tried electric cigerettes but for me, they only made me want a real one more. My good friend in California used them for a few years and now somehow still uses them but there is no nicotine in his oil???? Either way better than smoking real cigerettes. I too hope you got off all of it, but if not keep trying! Sometimes I think about them, but just as fast I think "not going there" and I'm over it. One day at a time for sure. Happy to hear you are also building with foam sometimes. Such a great hobby if one is flexable to always deviate from the norm! Us builders are becoming rare I guess, but I try to help others learn some methods so it will stay alive longer. The world needs people that can create with their hands and minds! Thanks again Jim Fred |

great build.
on the build over the plans I would recommend the use wax paper over the plan. It is impervious to ca and other glues and releases without effort once you are done. On these light structured it is very important to get free from the plan without breaking any joints. phil |
