After not having the pickup truck for too long, I finally made a trip to Home Depot. I got three 1"x4'x8' sheets of foam, a 1/4"x2'x4' sheet of wood, and two 12"x18" plexiglass sheets. I did not find any suitable spray paint. They all wreck the foam. Any suggestions???

I'll add more info a little while. I have other things to do.

You can put a light coat of elmers (or any cheap white glue) over the foam and then you can paint it with anything.

The plexi is 11"x14" and about 1/8" thick. I was planning to use this to help make the mount for the removable thrust fan. The entire shroud would be bolted down by either four or six 3/8" nylon bolts.

That's a good idea, but how much weight would that add?

We can rebuild it!

I was also thinking that you could give it a protective coating of some kind, experiment a little, take an off-cut, weigh it, do the coating, weigh it, paint it, weigh it.... After all I think you are in experimental territory.

I love this, now if my wife says I have lost it I can refer her to your hovercraft. While in the mean time I will be plotting my secret from the wife builds. I love it when a plan comes together.

I can't wait to see ya rocking and rolling in this thing, you better be prepared for your week long perma-grin as well.

That is the same plan I used. You wouldn't believe the shadow of the model this was casted under. Lol I'm still in high school so I don't have to deal with "the wife", but I do have a "the mother".

Hah, I feel the same way man.
I showed her the pictures of it spread out in the computer room, and she flipped out. It was very entertaining.

I started tearing into a 20" box fan. The rotor itself is only about 19", but I will cut it down to fit an 18" inner housing diameter.

I hate it when the post office has my stuff behind the counter, but not available for pick up... The wood for my battery boxes finally cleared. Still waiting on the elecs.
