It is really sad that you guys that hang out on this thread a not just more opened armed to help people. So with that said Cheers to the great Charger thread!

I find the information on this site helpful.

This thread should be replaced with something that is more current though.

No solar lamp uses nimh but will try to replicate the concept using lipo to automatic charge when the lipo volt drop to a certain point but still use power from solar to run my rc while on the charge. Would like to try it on a car or a boat. Aircraft will be harder due to the weight

goal is to run an rc on solar and charge the lipo at the same time.

Guys

Here is my experience with a SKYRC Quattro B6 AC 'Professional Balance Recharger/Discharger' which I have been using on a regular basis for a little over 2 years to charge mainly Lipos and NiMhs.

While I have not used it to death, it has been treated well and looked after. I have had the following problems:-

a) the internal PSU died and would not convert supplied AC to DC resulting in a dead unit. Luckily enough, it does have a 11-18V XT60 DC input jack and I purchased a PSU in order to continue the use of the charger.

b) Port 1 will regularly balance charge correctly but it will not auto-cut off/finish the charge until it reached the time limit.

c) Port 2 LCD screen intermittently goes blank on power up rendering the port useless. Occasionally it can be recovered by powering down and then up again to restore the screen but it does blink every so often.

d) Port 4 has a MAIN CONNECTION ERROR message and is totally useless as a recharging or discharging port. If a NiMh battery is connected, it trips the unit to power down as some kind of short circuit self protection mode.

What seemingly to be a reliable and convenient multiple battery charger turned out to be a less that robust as the retail price had suggested. Anybody else had similar experience with this particular charger?

I am looking for another 4 x 6S charger but fearing that it's the same OEM's that produce all the chargers that are on the market and they all have the same inherent problems. Any good suggestions of reliable chargers? Thanks.
