Debating Losi 1/36 Micro-T or 1/24 Rally Car

Looking for my first RC car and is debating between Losi 1/36 Micro-T or 1/24 Rally car? Will be driving it indoors only in the living room area and on pave driveway area only. Not doing any off-road stuff.

I like Micro-T because of its size and its Truck like shocks. I like the rally because its 4WD with ball bearing and looks cool. Can't decide on which one. which one is easier and cheaper to maintain? I know 1/24 rally is newer which probably has better design components.

Any suggestions and comments?

Obviously it depends on what you want most. Personally I think I will go for the micro-desert truck.

Here is the vid where he (Earthling84's vid) compares the rally with the micro-desert, to give you an idea, because a micro-t is pretty similar to the micro.

Losi 1/24 Rally Vs. Losi 1/36 Desert Truck! (3 min 44 sec)

(Obviously he's running them on lipos. I think it's either Earthling84 or 1984, but this is his vid, not mine.)

(Is that a squirrel at the end of the video, with a micro-t in it's mouth? Lol)

If you look in Earthling's videos, which are all very clear, well presented and informative, you will see he does an unboxing of the rally car, which shows the speed difference between the nimh battery and the lipo. I advise you watch that. Basically the rally car is a pretty stable looking car, that really holds the turns.

both are great micros in smaller spaces the micro t would be the choice .
i love the 4wd but it is a bit bigger and if your into wheelies also the micro t .
as stated the micro rally has bearings and threaded axels that is a plus . you can visit the they carry a full line of parts for the micro t so compare price for each but be sure to all in the cost of bearings and axels ( to the micro t ) both require basic maintanance a clean debri free car is a happy one good luck with your choice and be sure to post pics of it when you can . happy holidays

I faced this same decision and recently chose the Micro SCT. For $20 more than the DT, you get bearings, 4WD and oil filled shocks.

I chose the SCT over the Rally because it has better ground clearance without the body/fenders. I like the look of the Rally better, but the SCT is more practical for me.

Just my .02

Guess for indoor only the Micro-T seems perfect size, however I like the Rally cars also. Now I just seen Duratrax Vendetta TC and that's nice too, but its too big to drive indoor!

ok lets do the plus and minus of both
micro t

+ easy to drive in small spaces
+wheelies ( who doesnt like wheelies )
+ easy to maintain ( less moving parts )
+ tons of up grades

- needs bearings
-needs bb tranny case may need shimming
-needs threaded axels for ease of working on ( e clips suck )
- needs threaded oil shocks

micro /sct,rally

+ 4wd better handleing
+ has threaded axels
+ has bearings
+ larger battery longer run time
+ slightly larger easier to work on
+ easier to mod as it has more room to moount esc and servo

-larger scale
-more money ( not much for what you get )
- no wheelies ( :-( )

if you think of more please list them

Sounds like the Rally is the best choice for you.

Also note that the Rally/SCT aftermarket parts will be hitting the US market in early 2011 so by the time you are ready to upgrade they will/should be available to you. My favorite places to shop are,, and for these scale vehicles.

on the dt / t

threaded axels

bearing tranny . may need shimming

grease / oil shocks

bb2 motor

thouse are the most important mods for improved speed and run time . every thing else is more for bling than performance .

yes bb2 faster than stock with bearing instead of bushings . go to for all your micro needs they have most every part available for them there . and also be sure to reg on .
