I must have got mine right when this thread was started...wished I'd read it sooner!!
First off, I'll say this plane flies well even while STILL IN the box since I found it blown across my yard and fence and across the NEIGHBOR'S yard when I pulled into my driveway. Unless UPS put it on the wrong porch. Anyways BEST packed plane ever. Only damage was a broke elevator connector, which probably happened at the warehouse or factory. No prob replacing it. BEAUTIFUL plane! Cheap too... The maiden went poorly... 1) I tried flying it with NO expo...bad idea. 2) I used a 2200 mAh battery set a tad too far back. The powerful motor had it into the air smartly, I did a few circuits of the field noting I was dragging butt and KNEW I was going to have a "tense" landing. I managed some pretty loops anyways. I figured I'd come in for a landing and aborted the 1st attempt because I was dumb-thumbing the elevator. That will teach me to use my expo and DX6i properly! Came around again too low and a bit too slow, she winged over and hit the ground HARD. Broke the nose off and shattered the motor mount. I put her away for a few weeks, but rebuilt everything with not too much effort, she's a tough plane. It helped that I hit grass and soft sand. I've been flying too many other planes, weather permitting, to give her a proper re-maiden. She needs a new spinner which is off kilter and causing vibration. I may just buy another one since it's cheaper than a micro! I'm going to re-read the entire thread since I've only given it a cursory look. Thanks to all the posters! |

Sorry to hear about the Mustang. Thats one of the toughest aspects of this hobby, especially losing a brand new plane on maiden. Im sure some of the experts here would beg to differ, but on that Mustang, I would probably always want to come in under power. You may have stalled it. I've done it. Gusty conditions can cause a foamy to do unpredictable things. Hopefully that Mustang will be back in the air real soon. Ken |

I never fly full throttle, I like to just take it nice and easy. I'm going to look for some videos on belly landing... |

9x7 APC slow flyer prop - static amps is right at 28a - the ESC can handle 30 plus a burst of 37a I believe - but in the air you wont pull as much - and this baby hauls -and Im using 3S 2200maH 25c Turnigy lipos - get about 8 mins flight time because I like speed - scale flying 10 mins

I was prepping mine to fly tomorrow and noticed that the retainer (?) of one of the aileron pushrods was missing. I can't think of the name right now. The thing which holds the 90 degree angle of the pushrods to the servo arm. It must have come off on it's last flight or landing. The other one was loose as well. Remember to check those before you fly. They don't seem to gold too well. Otherwise I still love this plane. Great price, great detail and a great flyer.
Fastlink! That's what they are called :-) |
