Blender 2.58 settings for FS One model export

Hi Michael,

I haven't forgotten about making a 3D Bubble Dancer... I've just been very busy finishing up my real one. -- See here www.aviatorstudio.com

Anyway, I had been having problems getting your Model Viewer to correctly see what I was working on in Blender after conversion, so I put the project aside for a while.

I got back to it today, working with just the simplest cube object. After downloading the latest version of Blender (2.58.1) and adjusting the export settings, I finally got it to view exactly what I exported.

Anyway, I just wanted to post a few screenshots here as a perpetual reference of what it took.

One note, I could have adjusted the axis settings in Blender, but decided to just use the Y-up option in ModelConverter.

So now that I've got it figured out, I should be able to make some real progress on the model.

Thanks,

Mark Haley - formerly using "Smirkware" as my username.

:-) The way you wrote that, Mark, makes me think that your Bubble Dancer will do harrier rolling circles and torque rolls. ...maybe in the sim...?

Yeah, that's the problem when we start using the same term for multiple things... 3D model, 3D gaming, 3D RC Flying, etc.

I can buy FSone in most LHS in the UK seems a shame you only sell direct from the US for V2

Well, I guess it's nothing new that you can buy old or new software at the same time. We do hear from people who buy version 1 and then found out version 2 is already available (first time they go for updates probably). I always thought those were ebay sales. Maybe not.

BTW -- The price there (your link) is crazy high, so -- actually -- no wonder they still have it.

I would love to buy V2 MSelig but the import charges with it being over $40 will be taxed heavily which would make buying it in here in the uk not such a bad price but its not V2.

Is there a FSone forum where users can share new planes with other users like the knife edge forums ?

Michael, glad you liked my website!

I'm taking screenshots of the Bubble Dancer build in Blender as I go along and will be doing a similar write-up for it on my website. Of note will be a few of the pitfalls I've found in the Blender to FS One export. -- In particular, certain primitives when exported have their normals all flipped around, and need to be recalculated before export. If I can document some of those sorts of things, it might make it easier for the next guy.

Take care,

Mark
