Westland Lynx AH7 450 size

This is just a collection of pictures and videos I've taken during the build of my Trex 450 sport based Westland Lynx AH7. Most of these pics have been posted in other threads, but I thought it was time to combine them all in one place!
The mechanics are stock Align apart from the raised tail unit produced by 'Boffy', who also produces the fuselage. I have also replaced the stock 14t pinion with a 13t as the lipos were producing a lot of heat and I didn't want to cut holes in my fuselage. The lights and controller are from Dimension Engineering and use a programmable controller the connects to a pc or laptop to set up flash sequences.

Here's what I started with:

Once I was confidant flying, I bought the fuselage and raised tail from Boffy and set to work finishing it. The raised tail put the tail rotor and main rotor blades a little bit too close and during it's first power up and attempted lift off there was contact! Luckily all that happened was a heavy vibration just before lift of, so I powered down to check. When I looked at the tail blades, the mains had almost trimmed them down to the right length, but I took another 10mm off just to be on the safe side!

Now it was time to test and setup the lights

Here's a short video to show the lights being tested, and also shows raised tail assembly.

The setting points on my 3 position switch were right on the light controller's limits, so sometimes when switching to idle up, the red strobe kept flashing for 1 or 2 flashes, but I since worked out how to change the limits on the controller to make them more stable.
Normal mode is now Red strobe, flashing nav lights. Idle up1 is Alternating white strobes top and bottom, constant nav lights, and idle up2 is the same as 1 but with added landing light. Throttle and pitch curves for idle up2 were identical to idle up1, so it just acts as a landing light switch.

Here's the first pictures of the heli with the body on. At this point it was obvious that the stock Align skids looked rubbish and I needed to come up with something better.

First though, it was time to make sure it flew, and tweak the throttle, pitch curves and tail control

Now it was time to get detailing. On the list of bits to do was; a few more aerials, steps, windscreen wipers, new skids, and some weathering.

Here's a quick video of me flying after work one evening. Sorry it's taken with my phone!

Hi Phill, thanks very much. It's Leeming, home of 100 Sqn and not much else! Boffy doesn't have website at the moment I don't think. He sells his stuff through ebay. Here's a link to his fuselage, he also sells the raised tail. Do you fancy one?

Thanks Boyd, It's now sporting the tail boom decals, a squadron crest and a few on it's belly too. I'm still toying with the idea of a 4 blade head, but the disadvantages seem to out weigh the advantages for me. I'd rather have the longer run time, better control and full 3d capability.
