what kind of 30's were failing? was that w/ 5 or 6 blade? i have been using the 30amp h/wings on 4's w/ no issues, but only w/ the 5blade (21 amps ) and only w/ 2 servos. the servos count is a bigger issue imo due to the linear bec. 21 amps should not be a issue on the 30amp esc.

the 40 amp w the switching bec cures all but there is a big size and weight penalty.

chuck.

The 6 blader draws at full throttle around 28A constant. It peaks at 31A and then drops steadily with my F-22. (stock everything except ESC and 6 blade fan)

First thing I did was to get rid of the bulllets and fit a Deans .... No way with the amps I'm pushing through mine would those itty bitty bullets be man enough.

Yea I'm thinking either deans but for now the yellow plugs which I believe are XT60 come pre soldered on. I'll use my charger adapter for now to go from the jst to the yellow plug. I've used deans in all my electric rc cars so after I get a solder iron Ill go that route.

Just for the record .... my T45 draws more than 40A when opened up ....... but I'm running 4S on a 5000kv motor with 6 blade rotor ........ gives me more than 1.1 to 1 thrust to weight ...

I have with experimenting with various such as 7 blade run over 60A !!

When I ran stock motor / fan - the stock ESC worked with 4S OK ... it was my antics that blew mine ...

Yea mine works now. I guess it just got hot and shut down. I thought I gave it plenty of time to cool down.

A good combo worth trying out. A fellow flier at my field had an AEO 50mm 8 blade fan hooked up to the stock Skyangel motor on 4s. Less than 19amps draw and just under 300 watts with a lot of thrust! It was in his Screamer and it was much more than 1:1 thrust to weight! I think that may be the best combo that I have seen thus far! Very efficient! It flew great too but even at half throttle it was pretty fast! My have to get some 50mm 8 blade fans to try out....

Flew my Katana more this weekend and am just loving the way it flies!! I still have to hook up the rudder but it is on rails!! It tracks like a much bigger ship and can slow way down as well! Great flying jet! I need to try out a screamer...

I'm hopeful to re-maiden my Katana later on today (weather permitting) with the Don's Wicked 4800kv set-up. Will remember to load a 4S in there ! Expecting good results

Are there any US sites that sell the katana yet? The hobbyb.com website charges a lot for shipping. Hobbyking does too if you order from their international warehouse but their cheap prices makes up for it.

It will scream with that combo...Literally!! I heard a fellow flier with that same set up in an F-22 this weekend and it was WICKED indeed! The Katana will love it! Just make sure to have a thrust tube in there...

Mike,

I think Hobbyb has the early line on new Jpowers Skyangel releases. I went with the combo version w/out motor and bought the Don's Wicked 4800kv setup. Looks like it's sold out for now. Banana and Toysonics carry some of the others in the series.
