WK2801PRO with Walkera V200D02, need to use max. SUBTRIM (125) down

Hi,

I have a new WK2801PRO which arrived yesterday and I use the unit with the two Walkera V200D02 helicopters I have in the WK2401 mode. When using the WK2402 which came with the Walkera V200D02 and with a WK2401 which I had from a CB180LM the swashplate of boths helicopters (the two Walkera V200D02) sits just fine (level) when I bind. I just need to trim a little.

Now when I use the WK2801PRO both swashplates move very much backward when binding from the level position - so I need to use the total max. value of SUBTRIM (125) downwards to get the swashplate level. As well I still need to trim ELEV down some clicks to avoid the helicopter from moving back when hovering.

Mmmhhh - something can´t be right: any idea what to do?

Heinz

I fly my V200D02 on a 2801pro as well. I just correct the CG, centre the trims, nil sub trim required. Then just spend a little time in no wind area, and lift off. If the heli goes back then just shorten/lengthen the elevator push rod, again and again. Same for sidways drift until it hovers near hands off. I would not be overly concerned if the swash is not perfectly level with this heli. Do the mechanical trim I mentioned before touching any of the digital trims because the 3-Axis gyro is most likly countering your digital trimming, and you cant turn off the 3A with this heli for airbourne setup testing/trimming like you can with other FB helicopters.

You need to set up the heli mechanically, don't use electronic aids until you absolutely have to.

The simple answer is, set all trims and subtrims back to 0, then unscrew the arm on the servo and put it back on at 90 deg (or as close as possible) THEN use a small amount of sub trim to center it.

SUBTRIM, MONITOR on Walkera V200D02 w. WK2801PRO

Hi,

and thanks to Canada and Australia from Europe (Germany) - what have we been doing on these issues BEFORE internet?

Anyway the issue I have is that when I used the V200D02 (boths of them) with the same WK2403 the swashplate was perfectly level after binding with the WK2403. When binding with the WK2801PRO both swashplates flipped backward to the full extent.

I than used SUBTRIM to revel out - see here:

And some normal trim - see here:

The heli flys perfect and the MONITOR page shows:

So what you guys are telling is that I should go back to ´0´ TRIM and ´0´ SUBTRIM and mechanically adjust the swashplate with the linkage to be level and than start again adjusting both SUBTRIM and TRIM, right?

The fear I have is that than the MONITOR will be out of order - any ideas on that?

Thanks, Heinz

Convinced!!

OK, did what you guys suggested:
leveled the swashplates with the ´eyeball method´ (just stare it it long enough and make adjustments as you think is right) - flew in my working room at the top floor of our house - made some adjustments again - flew again.

Result: both copters hover on the spot with NO trim and NO subtrim indeed.

All took me not more than 5 minutes per helicopter.

Many thanks folks, Heinz

and MONITOR ...

... is EXACTLY centered on AILE and ELEV (forgot to say). Can´t get it better for sure.

Glad you got it sorted. It's actually not surprising that it happened, all radios can't have the exact same center for the servo so whenever you change radios some mechanical set up is inevitable.
