Nice! What's the brand of gb on the front of your scorp please Ben?

Weight at 6.5 oz 185g
1110/1y 6.7 at 5.8oz 165g might be sweet for the orion on 3s.
What is the lightest weight up front?

Looking back I see a 1105/2y with 4.4 maxon at 4.1oz 116g
You couldn't go much lighter could you?
My 2 pennies: The 1112 would be a hoot and not too horrid on weight at 6.5 oz.

A flying buddy is currently doing a 1110/1Y 6.7 on 3S and, yep, it should be sweet. I'll keep you posted.

I used the 1105 w/ 4.4 Maxon, weighs more like 4.7 oz, 13x9 RFM prop, but AUW is only 51 oz with full telemetry. Critical that 2200 3S battery and ESC be side-by-side for CG around 106mm. Lighter possible? I don't think so.

Cheers!

Ben
The Scorpion 2221/10 specs at max 42A and 550W... and I thought I was pushing my Neu 1105! That's pretty cool and I assume you limited motor runs at WOT to less than 10 or 15 seconds. But then the motor has a fan I believe... might help.

Anyone calculated what kind of thrust you would be getting from a setup like this?

Try Turnigy 3648/850kv with ecalc. It will beat all other cheap motors hands down. I run couple of these with 3s and 13x11 Cam carbon (~60A ~3600g thrust). By calcs it is by far the most powerful cheapish chinese outrunner. There are couple of Scorpions and Hyperions that match and that's it.

Calc looks about right. 17" prop explains the power consumption stated by FASTBEN. The system, for the price, is worth a try.

On 4S it will be "FAST" "BEN". Keep us posted and I will compare to my buddy's same motor/GB on 3S.

Many thanks B12, this is just the stuff I am looking for, so I reckon a jeti spin 66 teamed up with that setup will do the job a treat. cheers. Just to reiterate a 36mm outrunner will just fit in the Orion but you may have to make a spacer of 3mm or more for the front so that the wires clear.

You should post a pic of your bubble mod to accommodate the wires past the spinning outrunner can B12. It is going to be impossibly tight otherwise?
