Where are you placing your ESC? I saw in one pic right on top of the battery. You might want to put it a little further away. A few of use have "suspended' them with zip ties just below the canopy section, sort of a cut out for it.
What battery connectors are you using? Are they rated for such high output as our 3300 lipos? Just curious, overall looks about what I have in mine. |

I've seen this plane fly the whole flight on half throttle so I don't think the connectors will be overloaded anyway. I have also tested the system on full throttle for couple of minutes and there was no heat generated from any of the components. |

That's going to be difficult to get the batt in and out with the ESC on top of it. The side door design looks like it would be a good idea but in real world use I find it tough to get a hand in there. With the ESC in the way it will be a hassle. Best to hang the ESC with zip ties from the "roof" just ahead of the windshield.
Also, one of symdnn's pics shows what I was talking about a few pages back. The sides of the fuse have a lightening hole cut out and the covering is exposed to abuse when replacing the battery. I tore the covering on both sides before I realized what was going on. And I didn't think I was being rough getting at the battery. I glued some lite ply pieces over the holes to save the covering. |

Any reason why you did not mount the ESC to the motor box in the airstream from the nose vents?
Generally, charging a Lipo onboard the plane is not a good plan. |

Here are some pics of what I have been working on. The first pic is before I did anything other than re-mount the motor. I shaved down the area around the cowl and cut the cowl down as well. It's not pretty yet but I think it will look halfway decent when I am done. I'll clean up the edges on both the fuse and cowl and be painting the cowl to match. Prop clearance is good but I might put a little more in to cover the right/down thrust. I might use magnets to secure it or just out some ply or birch up behind to secure with screws. Still need to cut the remaining holes in the cowl and put the right/down thrust in the motor.

Cub looks great symdnn.
You may think about opening up the two intakes in the front of the cowl to let in some air for cooling. And the rubber bands need to be doubled up to be strong enough to hold the model up on landings. Quote:
It flys really slow with no flaps and stupid slow with flaps. ...slow enough to bite you. I was testing out the flaps the other day at altitude and it has a nasty stall when pushed to far. Really drops a wing and falls over hard. If you do use the flaps it just takes a smidge of droop, 1/2" max. I've yet to make a landing with the flaps down. Julian |
