Goldberg Valkyrie Short Kit Build

And let the building begin! I received the box a few weeks ago and it's way to cold to fly anymore, so I decided to start the build. So far, it's been a fun "little" build. I didn't realize how small my building table was till I started to lay out the pieces. This thing is going to be a monster!

The idea behind this build is following in Franny B's footsteps (with her permission of course) and also using Laser Technologies short kit of the Valkyrie. The pieces in this box is just beautiful, which must be credited to both Carl Goldberg the creator, but also to Dan Walton, with Laser Tech.....he spent a lot of time figureing out the write way to laser cut out those built up ribs and making the wing perfect. Dan and I will be working together on this and makeing this an even better kit.

So far I have about 3 hours into this build and it's been moving right along. I decided to attack the fuse first, because most my changes will be done with it first.

This Valkyrie will be nito with a Saito .56 golden knight. The wing will be two piece and the stab will not be removable. The rudder will be pull-pull and I haven't decided on the elevator yet.

So here's the pics......all advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

cheers a bunch!!!

Thats ANOTHER model I am going to HAVE to build now!!!!! Damn this hobby!!!

Seriously, that is about 200hours saved by using laser cut stuff. Heavens knows why those original ribs were so complex. Maybe the glue was so bad, they compensated with loads of joints. Made me shudder looking at frannys wings.

Can you give us details of Laser Tech and your kit?

No, the plan I got from them....top quality. Not like a copy and matches the kit parts. For $20.00 it's a steal.....you could wallpaper your familyroom when you are done...two BIG rolled up sheets!

Jodini, looking forward to your build.
Youíre off to a fantastic start. It takes me about the same amount of time to just open up the box (just kidding). Now, Iíll never get the old projects done.
I guess Bill will have to order up two.

Thanks! Everyone seems pretty friendly on this forum....good to see!

Well, not a whole lot done today. I really have to think things thru on this one. I decide to follow the plans on the motor mount. Instead of 1/3 pine wood sticks I used 5/8 for a little more girth for the motor. I also got the floor for the wing mount. Won't be able to work on it over the weekend but when December hits, I'll be back in the garage!

model plans as wallpaper...

now that has given me a great idea for my sons bedroom. Move over harry potter, its vintage wallpaper all the way!!!

Thanks for the price info. A bargain.

One thing that I noticed is that you could build the fuselage using the excellent formers as your guide to create the longerons shape, could you not. If you built a crux to hold them in place, like you do with model boat hulls, the longerons could them be attached into the formers corners.
