I had the same problem with a deans. The spring (like a leaf spring) on the connector was flat. Faulty direct from deans. It came like that on my airboss esc. Happened on like the 3rd flight of my new 8fg. Thought it was a radio problem at first, I was ticked, lol.

But if I switch...
it will require money that could be used on planes
It will also cause a problem with my balance board which is set up for Deans

No I was not. I was running the standard Airboss ESC/BEC

I will call Hitec today and get their 2 cents....
I just lost a plane NOT using an external BEC or small battery . From here on out even if its a 48" Im going to use one. At least I would have had control over the plane as long as I had comm to the RX.

Yes but then you have to wait for them to send them to you from China and you know how they are. You may not get them for a month. I would rather have local sources for parts like that. If I need some deans I can get them from a local store or anywhere close online. I Dont like waiting on the China thing.

EPBuddy.com carries them. Reasonably priced, reasonable shipping, and good fast service.

Just be sure you get the genuine XT60 plugs. The non genuine are not Nylon and are very heat sensitive during soldering.

I only use XT60's, legacy from the hobbyking addiction. and had some copies I tried to solder onto lipos last week, they all melted very quick under the solder iron.

Hold in left hand right behind turtle deck. Point up and out. Full throttle and let go!

Only problem I see is how to land unless you are quite adept at hove catch, which I have done. But I would not want to depend on that method cause i ain't that good

EPBuddy states on their website that they are genuine. All the connectors they sell are the genuine article, no copies. I really like all of their parallel charging products, all top quality.
