finally got around to putting flaps on my bird. this was my second time doing flaps which turned out a lot better then my first. then again that was trying split flaps on an art-tech corsair. i used hinges this time around which work much better then tape.

overall it was pretty straight forward. most time consuming part was fishing the servo leads through the wings. now i just need the weather to clear to try them out.

First mod I'll try will be the flaps as the well done flap mod done by ohsnap in the above post.
All I've done so far is bend the landing gear more forward and added larger wheels (2 1/4")

Flew the mustang yesterday and I actually lost that scoop on the bottom that covers that screws and is held in by magnets. I didn't think it would be possible! Never found it, probably in the snow somewhere!

Well that confirms my thoughts of adding another set of magnets to the rear of the scoop and a couple of CF rod spikes to make sure it stays on and only comes off on purpose.

Hey BHCNMO great video what size battery our you using I saw where you said that you have to land with 1/3 prop speed. I have never landed my P-51 with any prop speed I always land it dead stick and it floats in for a nice soft landing. Im using a Hobby people 2200 3 cell battery

Sorry for the Mistake bhcnomo This is a great plane minus if you want to hand launch it there is know where on the fuse to hold it from the bottom. I have seen a lot of guys do under hand launches with this plane while holding it from the top. If you have a paved runway all is good. I fly at a park. all grass no pavement does not take off from grass very well.

noobie question-- could you strengthen landing gear by screwing or epoxy 2 small steel plates perpendicular across the top of the plastic strips that hold the gear on the front and back, but leave the slots open to attach the wheels? do this on each side.

I epoxied mine with 30-minute epoxy and the wheels came off on the first landing. I never bothered trying to repair it.
