I have done both but shoeler is right there is no good spot to grab the plane if you launch it over hand I grab is sort of behind the scoop, which is difficult because the plane does'nt balance well when holding it at that point. either way you go once you launch it the fun begins this plane is extremely stable, even in some wind it does well. you might want to put some clear packing tape on the bottom if you going to belly land. to protect the fuse.

another power upgrade


swapped out the supertiger .10 with a turnigy c35-36 1100kv after some slight modifications. had to reverse the shaft and cut off 3mm then moved the cowl forward 16mm for a nice fit. waiting to get back my radio back so havent done any watt/prop combo measurements. hope to get in a flight this weekend if the weather clears.

flaps are still working well. may do some retracts soon. man i love this bird!

what size is it

have not even flown mine yet
cant want

i see you have a Spektrum rx
what radio do you have

i have the DX6i and one of the trim tabs broke
got some Aluminum Trim Tabs
now good as new

I have used this strut set up for one of the little EPO yellow Texans I got from BH. Although not really scale, it seems to work fine with not much extra weight and can get through grass. Just screw them onto two pieces of hardwood ply and glue on to where the original struts supports were located. They give slightly under 3" in height clearance starting from the base of the support, under the spring, to the center line of the wheel axle. What's the height of the Mustang's stock wire struts?
Maybe it can be a good replacement for the stock wire struts on the Tower P-51?

i replaced the stock esc with a plush 40a when i was trying the supertiger .10 setup so still using that for now.

i had a 9503 which i recently sold. ordered a dx8 last week which should be here today so have been grounded for a week which has been a real bummer to say the least.

i was actually going to sell this bird but realized its just too much fun. its a perfect plane for power upgrades as the wings are ridiculously strong. i have hammered on it pretty hard and have yet to see any flex. i hinged the rudder and replaced the stock servos with hxt900s which has helped.

not sure if anyone's broken the fragile plastic tail wheel assembly. i broke it pretty early on and replaced it with a cheap 1.5mm allen wrench i had laying around.

just drilled a small hole in the plastic collar and trimmed the allen wrench to size and secured with some epoxy. really good mod for you non belly landers.

finally got to do some bench testing with the tr3536c. results were pretty good. just need to test them in the air now and see real world performance.

Just got mine yesterday. 1st thing I did was clip off the connector from the esc. I use sermos connectors to connect battery. Then, checked the motor and it works as well as servos. Generally, most manufacturers use el cheapo servos in these models to keep costs down.
The motor....hmmm....doesn't look like it will pull that much. Is this some sort of great planes motor thats oem'd? Doesn't look like you have all that much space lengthwise to use another motor without chopping something.
Lastly, whats up with the included prop? The tips are bent back 90 degrees.
May use an apc prop instead.

The motor in that P-51 is a Thunder Tiger 388w bell motor. Everything else is also the Thunder Tiger brand.

I hand launch it grabbing it from the top, or "underhand". It was the first plane where I attempted that. Never had a problem except for anxiety the first few times.

Well, I couldn't resist. I started to dig out pockets for Hobby King electric retracts.
