P-47D 1400mm Airfield E-Retracts
Doing a reply to an old thread, because it's an old aircraft; hope that is ok.
My Dad bought a Airfield RTF with E-retracts used from a guy and gave to me.
It flies great, but one of the main gear struts is loose and fell out during take-off.
I don't see how the gear strut stays in the e-retract. The tip of the strut has a hole through it, so I thought there was a pin. There is also a flat spot, so I thought maybe a set crew. But looking at the e-retract unit (removed from plane) I do not see any holes for set screws or pins when either open or closed position. Nor does it appear to be cracked.
I don't want to buy a new pair of full if I don't have to, but I am afraid to even buy a single e-tract if that isn't the problem.
I've written to several parts stores and not heard back from anyone.
Information or pictures showing how to fasten the gear strut into the E-Retract is appreciated.
