I picked up a new pnp RP at the LHS for a little under $200.00 tax included.
Ordered some Morgan Mill servo covers. One of the ailerons is warped and will have to be steamed a bit, but other than that the plane looks just fine. Haven't checked for sticky pushrods yet. She should be ready to fly when the Big Sky resumes in February! If the servo covers aren't in yet, I'll just use the old battlewagon's wings for the time being. Nice to have spare parts. I'm interested in testing whether the climb rate is better when the motor is new. |

I have 3 batteries (had 4 for a while) and get about 6-7 45 second launches on each, so a conservative average of 15 launches per session would add up to about 780 launches. Being that I practice spot landings and rarely hand catch, that's 780 landings, some of them hard. IMHO the plane is plenty durable. |

But it's also very cheap entertainment when you add it up. I also find soaring to be very relaxing somehow, almost like meditation or something. |

Soaring Addiction? 12 steps? You don't know the meaning of the words.
When you have 20+ gliders spread over 1 to 3.4 meters in plastic, wood, foam, composite for TD, slope, HL, and aerotowing then you are getting there. (hummm, missing Xcountry ) When you have a winch, retriver, 2 hi-starts, a OneWinch as well as electic launched (winch in the nose) as ways to get them in the air, then you are getting there. (yes dear, I need those two marine batteries for emergency power in case the power goes out. ) When you have thoursands of posts on here and most of them are about gliders, you know you are on the brink of addiction. (I'll be up to bed in a minute dear. ) When you fly 20-30 contests a year and ....... (shush, don't repeat that ) Well, then you are really getting close to addiction. (No honey, I don't have that many gliders. I am talking about a guy I know. ) |

On the subject of RC-addiction (never off-topic), you will probably get a few chuckles from this page for the Lightflite Bug

The old problem of which is the better plane is to be settled. What the Assassin has in speed, maneuverability, and wind penetration... The radian makes up for in flexibility Crank it up to HD. EMI, soundtrack changed from original. |
