Have you ever done something THIS stupid ?

Weilbach, Germany. Saturday 23rd June 2001 - 5.20 p.m. Weather - outstanding.

There I was at the field with my Ultra 930-7 powered Thunder Tiger Champion 30L. I was really looking forward to flying it again.

I have really got it trimmed to perfection. It flies beautifully.

I turned on my Futaba FC 28 transmitter. I saw that the model memory was still on 'Twinstar' so I went into the program to change to 'Champion.'

I was wearing my sunglasses which do not have a field on them to correct my short-sightedeness. So things were dark and kind of fuzzy.

I pressed what I thought was the 'SELE' button, but in fact hit 'COPY'.

What happened then was that I replaced all my Champion data with a second copy of the Twinstar data. And the Champion data was lost forever.

I could have wept.

Have you done anything that stupid ?

Definitely, but I'm not sure I want to share them with everyone!

However, I did manage to delete a whole hard disc's worth of files a short while ago when trying to copy them, and I now know that Windows' Recycle Bin is not infallible (no surprise there, then)...

The Isle of Wight, eh ??

Does Southampton University still have its Rag Week ? When I was there ('65-'68) I was part of the invading force that captured the public toilets at Cowes.

Happy days !

The version I learned was "What comes steaming out of cows?"

All the time.
Getting lazy to unplugged the hard to get motor connector everytime I program my computer radio, as your select pass ch3 the motor will glitch. Some time you get plane taking off from your bench, (Now I weight the wheels) , doing some interial decoration, trimming drapes, etc.

Have fun,

I've done similar, I was about 3 seconds away from flying my Zagi on the setup I use for my EDF. That would have been an interesting result!

I lost track of the number.

I'm still waiting for someone to invent a sensor that will make my computer stop when I yell, "Wait! Wait! I didn't mean that!"

Ain't technology grand?

I try to keep a hard copy of each model's program setup in a notebook. Unfortunately, I'm two transmitters behind in documentation and the notebook will probably be on my work bench when I need it in the field.

You reminded me of two additional moronic things I did last year that I had forgotten about :

1. Had the fuselage of my hotliner on my lap checking servo throws. Transmitter was next to me on the sofa. Transmitter fell off and turned on the 11 cell motor to full power. Redecorated part of the wall with the resulting shower of blood.

2. Waited until the misses was out to check the set up of the ESC in my 600 powered model in the living room. Unfortunately it was 1 week after Christmas and I defoliated the Christmas tree more effectively than if I had used Agent Orange.
