OV 10 Bronco

Well here we go again, and they said this was not addictive. I am in the planning stages of an OV 10 Bronco. So far I have got the 3 view downloaded from the sticky above and have started doing some measurements. I had some symmetrical wing cores cut so will be using their cord as a guide for my build. It is going to be a rather slow process and mostly out of foam the polystyrene type with a little ply and balsa here and there for added strength.

If there are some plans out there please let me know. Any comments are welcome. The attached pics are just to wet your appetite, so here goes

OH NO... I just started a C130. This is another one I want to build. What WS are you planning? Will be watching with interest. Ya I have the addiction too.

SG Talon... Super Genius.
Larry, do you even have room to build another plane!?!?!

Do you need someone to help you fly all these planes? I have always wanted to spend time in Colorado!

SA,
There was another OV-10 that was rolling around on here a couple months ago. You should check that one out too.

I have built a couple of Bronco like profile planes, and they fly very well. Not exciting like a pusher jet, but really nice to fly.

Stick enough power into it and it could be very as exciting.
I met. span with two TP 2409-12 motors (400 watts, total)... I'm drooling.

I think that's the problem... I do have room.

I do need someone to help me fly these... that is why I keep having to store them some where.

This probably wouldn't be a good time of year to come to Colorado unless of course you are in to skiing.

Thanks, I'll check out the other one too, but I really don't need another build right now.

Whiskers when you say "could be made to fly so well" what must I keep in mind when building?

Well, for me it would mean: Light, strong, bags of power and plenty of control authority... that sort of thing.

Drawings

I used these drawings that were found on the net. Seem to be close to scale. I didn't draw plans just scaled-up each section.

My build:
66" ws
FF foam/balsa/ply
Outer wing panels can be removed for transport.
Using 1100 kv motors and 50 amp controllers in each nacelle
Initial flights will be with 3-cell batteries and 10\6 props then 8\6 on 4-cells
Shooting for 4 1\2 pounds but it may closer to 5 when its ready

Thanks for all the feed back. I am going to do most of it out of polystyrene and just the reinforcements out of ply and balsa. The construction is going to be based on the method in "Building with foam" for park flier plastics. Don't have FF here in South Africa but have loads of polystyrene. Wing span about 1.3 meters chord 250 cm

Any progress on the Bronco? Curious how the build is going.

Mine had its first flight today. Could not have asked for a better maiden. I wish all first flights were that easy! On 4 cells it hauls the mail.

No. It was a observation/strike/Forward air control type developed and used in Vietnam.

Here's a link to a restored German Target Tow version.
