Ultimate HobbyZone SuperCub Help Thread (Part 4)
Welcome to Part 4 of the "Ultimate HobbyZone SuperCub Help" series.
All of the information from the prior threads is not lost, and it will never be gone...even when they move off the pages. Part 1 can be found here: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=659793 Part 2 can be found here: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=789412 Part 3 can be found here: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=852122 To the first time visitor, welcome. You are not only about to jump in to a thread with a bunch of informative and helpful users, but you'll be learning about what (we believe) is arguably the best trainer on the market. Don't let the size of the thread scare you. If you are a wizard in searching threads, then you'll be afforded the chance of returning multiple hits on your search. Also, in the post below, there is an index of different topics that would be of interest to the Super Cub pilot as well. If, after this, you haven't found what you are looking for, take a look at the back end of the thread and see if the information is there. If not, ask away! Oh, before I forget. Prior to looking through the index below for different topics, be sure to visit Chuck's (NoFlyZone) blog. . In my opinion, it is one of the more informative blogs I've seen, and it just might have information you're looking for. Sure will save alot of search time. Lastly, my thanks to Tim, thedustypagan, for originally starting this discussion and allowing it to foster. Dave |

Finished the conversion of my original SC to 2.4 last week. AR6100e installed, along with a Turnigy 20A brushed ESC, and a pair of HXT 900's. Based on some of the stuff I've read, I may either 1) install one of the UBEC's, or 2) build one of those "low voltage" diodes. I've tested functionality, but I've yet to set the CG, range test, or flight test. I'm looking forward to checking these things, as well as confirming the functionality of my old Futaba Tx's as buddy boxes. The ability to buddy box / teach on this plane was one of the primary reasons for the conversion!
Also looking forward to finishing up SC #2, which is NIB original (red) SC converted to 2.4, brushless, flattened wing, with ailerons. Wing is flattened, ailerons cut, carbon fiber spar added, and brushless motor / mount are installed. I still need to install the AR6100e Rx, pair of HXT900's in the fuse, brushless esc, and pair of HXT900's in the wing. I haven't decided if I want to go the flaperon route or not. |

I only want to mess with flaps if it's going to be a functional addition. I'm not interested in scale looks, or anything like that. I just want it to be able to float at a walking speed! lol |

Thanks for hookin us up, and keeping us brothers together Dave. You da Man. Quote:
I learned the hard way to build and fly the crap out of a new plane BEFORE I prettied it up or added accesories. Our planes are like cars.Nothing happens to the junkers, while the nice ones are ding and crash magnets. Sorry for your loss, just fix n repair and get back in the air. I've little doubt you'll do even better on the rebuild.Bigger, better, badder! Quote:
Try experimenting by setting the ailerons up as flaperons using your tx first. Then if you really must have flaps after that, may I suggest using drop down flap hinges. You'll getter a greater surface area dropping, and they look cool as heck. |

Ya, it's called work. Life sucks. But hey, on the bright side I get off really early compared to the rest of the world! More time to fly the worlds most popular RC plane....SUPER CUB!
Glad to see you (and Gene) are still with us and stirrin' up trouble as usual. |
