New kit releases for 2011 from legend model boats

Sitting at home with a little time on my hands before venturing into the basement to work on finishing up the next release for Legend Model Boats, the 1935 Gar Wood Speedster “MISS BEHAVE”, we have set the
future releases for the up coming 2011 year.

First will be the “Miss Behave” which be a 1/6th scale version as it is on display at the Antique Boat Museum.

The second release will be the 1/8th scale model of the 1922 HACKER design of the 26’ GOLD CUP RACER, “MISS SEVERN” originally raced under the name “ARAB VI”. The boat “MISS SEVERN” was reproduced by non other than MARK MASON, boat restorer, historian, and boat builder extraordinaire. It is with his help and knowledge of the subject that an accurate model of MISS SEVERN will be scaled.

The third model will be of perhaps the most recognized of all the race boats of the gold cup days, due to it’s part in the “GREAT RACE” down the Hudson River against the “TWENTY CENTURY LIMITED” from Albany to New York City, which in no small way, embedded the GRAY FOX, GAR WOOD, as the speed boat king for the ages.

The model is a 1/10th scale model of the “BABY GAR IV”, with lines and historical information provided by Anthony S. Mollica.

The fourth release will be of a 1958 Lyman 16’6” outboard with a self bailing well, done on 1/6th scale. The lines for this boat were taken from the actual boat on display at the Antique Boat Museum at Clayton, NY. The Lyman out boards were so well built and built in such quantities, that there are a great number of them still in use and preserved by their owners.

The model will be built over collapsing mold frame structure, which will allow the modeler to built an exact scale model of the original boat.

Well there you have it. We will doing something a little different this year in that we will not post the build of the new kits until the kits are ready to be packed. This we feel will be a better arraignment so we don’t give out pre- release dates that we miss for one reason or other. When everything is in the factory ready to be packed , we will post the entire build, here on the forum, and take phone orders for the kit.

33" should be about right for the EP1?

The Lyman outboard hull has been set up to accept the EP1 outboard motor, running with an Octura 0937/3 propeller instead of the one that comes with the motor. Should give very good performance with that set up.

I will be making over the EP1 to look like the 75hp Johnson V4 outboard for when I enter the model in competition.
