If you attach the thrust tube to the outside of the fan unit (assuming your using the new stock 70mm) then just roll it up untill it's a good fit at the exit of the exhaust cone, this will give you your FSA of roughly 80% , I think mine is actually more like 79-78%. I haven't flown this yet so don't know what sort of speed to expect, but it works out at about 0.89 thrust to weight ratio, should be fine. Let me know if you have any more questions, happy to try and help. |

Why did you hollow out the tail runners? I was planning on reinforcing that area by putting the ply on the outside of the foam, but it looks like you might have different plans? |

my guess is he's going to embed some carbon and epoxy in the tail pylons. it works great.

Air Sally sells some doesn't he? He is supposed to be a great guy and by looking at him and sons jets, they do a great job. I wonder how much he sells his for. The reason I wanted to create my own is to save some cash, and making components on my own is all part of the fun with this hobby in my opinion. I enjoy learning about all this hobby has to offer. |

Re: Thrust tubes...
For anyone thats interested, I found that old drumheads are perfect material to make the tubes from... not too heavy but stiffer than whats provided in the kit yet still flexible and easy to work with.... I use it for all my EDF's now. FYI.... DH |

Ok, got my P3 EF-16 the other day at a local swap meet, new in unopened box with two Hitec HS-55's for 75.00. Put it all together per the builds I have read about. But now that I have read about 500+ pages of thread, I have a few questions of my own now. I have a three bladed fan and a red/silver motor with black wires like previously mentioned. Is this meant to run on 4s? Will it run ok on 3s or draw too many amps? I believe my esc is also a 30 amp. I have glassed and WBPU'd the fuse. I will post pics of the paint scheme, unfortunately it is not how pictured it coming out. I am going to order another P3-ef-16 kit without electronics and put a Don's wicked motor and fan in it. I plan on putting a larger esc also. Only going to run a 3s as that is what I run in my Trex 450, and have those on hand. One other question, is there a way to take up the 'slop' in the tail bushings? I put a little gap filling CA in them, and worked them until they dried, but it feels like the slop is in between the shaft and bushing clearance. Just wondering. I plan on a maiden sometime in the near future.... wheeeewww
Also, where do you get the 'Sally' glass parts?? John |
