I just got a CMP T-45 Goshawk from a friend of mine. The box never been opened. After opening the box everything seemed to be there and in good shape except no instruction manual. After downloading a set from nitro planes I realized it says nothing about what electronics is recommended for this project. My question is, what motor, fan unit, ESC, and battery set up would you recommend. I would rather get everything I need before I start my build. Thnx

A lightly built 6s 4400/5000mah Wemo setup with Eflite 15-25 retracts (?) and 100A ESC flies very well. I'm certain a 6s JetFan 90 setup would fly even better.

Wemo or Jetfan ... They would fly the same though, no reason to believe one will fly it better than the other

Is that with a 1400-1500 kv. I have a flyfly 1500kv, a Turnigy dlux 100amp esc, and a 12 blade changesun 90mm fan unit on hand. Will any of those work for this plane with 3 4000mAh 3s. Sorry bout all the questions, this is my first actual build. I usually buy my planes that are RTFs

So you are thinking 9s total ? it will fly it but is going to be heavy this plane flys great on 6s or 7s keep it lite as the landings could hurt the plane might have to reinforce the landing gear wells , I remember a few posts back guys were complaining the landing gear wells are weak and the landing gear was breaking out , Herb would probably give some good feedback on this .

Thanks for the tip. That's why I'm here, trying to get all the info I can about this plane before I start the build. I want to get it right the first time and not have to go back in and redo mistakes. Rather be flying than repairing.

From what I read Herb reinforced the wheel hubs with heavy fiberglass.
I am currently building mine and I have some spare carbon fiber that I am gonna use to reinforce that area.
Although my build should be on the light side as it will be a 6s setup

No it will not work. It is too heavy. This jet flies well on a 6S 4000-5000's setup, using a good quality LIGHTweight fan such as the WeMoTec MidiFan EVO90mm, the JetFan 90mm or similar (some chinese fans are lighter than others). The 12-bl CS fan is way too HEAVY for the T-45.

Hey guys sorry to revive this old thread.

I have done a lot of searching and even more reading. I have had one of these sitting on the sheft for a few years, it was won in a raffle and finally decided its time to put it together. I have found most of the information on servo size, CG, Gear options and I think I have come to a conclusion of how im going to set her up.

I'm thinking of leaving the Gear off and bungee launching it, reason being I have a bunch of 6s 3850mah packs and I think I can get it light enough to fly pretty well on this pack if I leave the gear off. My only question at this point is what fan and motor do you guys think would be a good combination with a 70c Thunder Power 6s 3850?

Thank you and once again I'm sorry for reviving an old thread.

WeMoTec MidiFan EVO 90mm or similar,

http://www.effluxrc.com/WeMoTec-90mm...F-mfpEVO90.htm

and HK SK3 1900kv motor, or similar

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-...-90mm-edf.html

These are just two suggestions, and similar setups (decent lightweight fan + decent inrunner motor) could work just as well, on 6S.

Here is how the above setup flew my old "Proedf" MiG-15 (sorry for the bad quality, it was taken by a friend with a phone) :

MiG-15 90mm composite EDF (HK/ProEdf/ProDesign) (1 min 53 sec)

and here is how the exact same setup flies my FlyFly Mirage :

Mirage 2000 by FlyFly 90mm EDF (2 min 14 sec)

Hope this helps ...

Afrer six years of faithful service I decided to retire my CMP T-45 ...

Lately I have not been flying it that often .... It started to have multiple issues that I did not feel I wanted to fix : The covering on the wings is quite yellow, I am getting tired of air retracts with a need to bring a pump, the old WeMo 6-blader should have been replaced with a WeMoTec EVO 11-blader, the T-45 fuse is heavy etc etc. Plus I really need the space in my garage.

So I took out all the electronics fan etc. which will go in a new airframe (with electric retracts).

.
