Transmitter is programmed and Salonit is (initially) trimmed. One throwing peg away from my "maiden" flight.

Certainly some more of you would like to make the trip to BSOAZ with us...
Would love to make the trip, just can't do it this time, though AZ sounds absolutely lovely this time of year.

I'm one day away from being 90%...certainly well enough to poke a peg in a wing. How about tomorrow evening sometime Dave?

I managed to escape from my desk and see daylight for 30 minutes! The sun even came out for about ten minutes, which i really appreciated. Just for kicks, I shoved 20g of weight in my Mystic, moving the CG forward to 55mm. I might just have to fly it here from now on because the difference in sink rate was nearly imperceptible, but the launches were better and it moved a lot better. Thermal turns were much nicer, too. Before, it was squirly when turning and seemed to sink much faster. It's now more responsive to subtle inputs and tracks much cleaner in turns. Before, it was easy to slow it down too much and stall. Now it carries momentum much better and stall characteristics are better. I'm loving this!

Not the 1st guy, and definetly not the last, to be surprised that adding weight helps a DLG.

Yup, I agree that those who start out obsessed with super low airframe weights usually discover the diminishing returns later. Too light means too squirly, poor ranging ability, and usually a weak airframe that struggles to withstand the rigors of the sport. They might float nice, but that isn't the most important characteristic to do well in competition. Much better to find that sweet spot where launch, handling, float, run, and durability are all reasonable. If it can excel in all these areas then you truly have something special (and usually expensive ).

My Vladious is a GEM though!!!!! And yes I watched every gram and the difference in a few outings with #11 have confirmed my wishes that the new girl will hang in dead air better than anything else I have.

What kindof jerkwad hangs up on me????

Also, if there are 4 in AD's scooter there wont alot of room for 5 guys planes?

And 5 guys in the Prius to & from hotel sounds troubling.

Discuss...

Glad to hear you are on the mend. Does tomorrow evening at 8:30p give us enough time?

Need to know for sure if TVK is going or not, and if he is driving or not. If so, then problem solved with 2 vehicles (or one big one).

Otherwise, will the Prius fit 3 guys, along with 3 plane boxes and gear? I assume no big clocks, screens, or other timing gear to go this time. Should be okay. We could probably divide and squeeze LeMon's planes into our other boxes, or just cram his loose wings & fuses into cracks in the back... To & from hotel with 4 guys is doable if we can leave our planes in G_Mo's trailer/hangar overnight at the field.

Russ?
Adrian?
