I just ordered the downlinks to convert my RJX head to DFC.
If you want to do the conversion this is the part you need.
H45165T : 450DFC Pitch Link Assy
There are several vendors on eBay. I ordered it from this company in Florida.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Align-TREX-4...item3cc89ba044

$18.99 shipped

You might be able to use the Tarot links, but they didn't look as sturdy as the Align ones.

Thanks for the thought, and the link. I already have a Turnigy Plush 40a which is 6s capable, so I am thinking motor and LiPo are all I need.
This for LiPo
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=23919
but I am undecided on motor.
Either Tarot

or 3dPro
http://www.rc711.com/shop/3dpro-1800...?cPath=166_255

Anybody venture an opinion as to which is better?

Thanks

Tarot is starting to have a better rep. I think. I have a 3800kv that was good, but I had to take it out. Couldn't get it geared right for the slanted gearing.

Tarot have now released a slant 9T and 10T pinion, which allows higher kv motors, with a 3.17mm shaft, to be used:

I just found a source of dirt cheap stainless steel cap head and button head allen screws.

http://www.trimcraftaviationrc.com/

Only thing they don't have is cap head sheet metal screws for plastic parts (though you can use machine screws for that) and collar screws. They don't have 18mm and 9mm M2 for the tail but you can substitute 20mm and 12mm and put an M2 nut on the other side or just cut the screw down.

Using a slant gear in a helicopter that doesn't have thrust bearings on the mainshaft is just asking for problems.

Funny my 450 and 500 don't seem to have a problem. Come to think about it the SAB Goblin with all it's power and no thrust bearing does not seem to have a issue. I think it's ok.

The slant gear will put axial load on the mainshaft bearings and wear them out faster.

Yes, I know it's upside down.

The axial force produced by the slant gear is only a small % of the lift forces produced by the main blades. Gaui X7 is another one with helical gears as standard and no thrust bearings.

Motor bearings are the concern with slant gears. They can handle it for a while, but not as long as without. Bigger helis need slant gears because they can strip gears with the power they have. Those helis also have much larger motor bearings, and spin lower RPM's in general. 450's don't strip unless you crash, plus their motor bearings are tiny and spin really fast.

and speaking of a 450 that small% is even smaller than that lol! I like them for how smooth and quite it makes them. I don't like the limited gearing combos. Go figure my tarot 3800kv is 3.5 shaft so it will sit on the shelf a little longer.

Personally I like my helicopters to be loud. It keeps the dog walkers and lone soccer guys off the field. I see one of them coming and a few low high speed passes and hard knife edge turns to make the blades fart and they usually think better of it.
