Easy - they install it upside down at the factory.

LiPo usage...

I ran a test to determine LiPo usage on my Mini Titan SE. Machine is stock with motor and ESC as supplied. I did a sustained 4 minute hover with starting voltage = 12.4 and ending voltage =11.3. LiPo is HK 2200 Nano with about 20 cycles. I checked individual cell voltages before test and they were balanced. Best I can determine from LiPo charts is 11.3 ending voltage = approx 30% remaining capacity. Does 4 minutes of hover use this much power? I have been reading RCG posts where guys are getting much longer flight times on 2200 mA.

It all depends on head speed, but my HK450 at ~2850 rpm uses about 1800 mahr in 7:30.

But I agree, definitely remove the main and tail blades while you try to figure it out.

hi which bearing are u taking about
let me know and i ll let u know it is set
thanks for replying

There is a bearing in the main gear that lets the motor drive the main shaft but not the main shaft drive the motor.

If you turn the main rotor forward/clockwise (looking from the top) by hand the motor should not spin.
If you turn the main rotor backwards/counter clockwise then the motor should spin.

I measured head speed at 2540 so I wonder what the problem is. I have three HK Nano 2200's and they all exibit 70% usage @ 4 minutes. LiPo and motor run cool and ESC runs hot. All rotating mechanics are free.

What motor and pinion? What ESC?
If you are using throttle to keep the headspeed down then it would be better to put a smaller pinion on.

Mtr - OBL 29/37-10H
ESC - Ace BLC-40
Head speed = 2540
AUW = 860 grams

Also, I'm running cheap wood blades if that factors in...

Machine is well balanced and smooth on run-up and in the air.

I'm thinking this machine is heavier than a Trex by about 100 grams which could easily explain shorter run times.

LiPo and motor run cool, but ESC gets pretty hot.

Thanks for your help.

Yes i checked it and the motor spins only if i move my main rotor backwards
but if i go forward then the motor will not spin

here is the motor i am using
Turnigy E500 6T 4000Kv 200W Heli Motor
from hobbyking
http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...idProduct=6316

i was reading the feedback on this motor and some people complained that the motor requires more than 200watts as stated in the decription and some people also stated that this motor requires a stronger esc

so u think that would be the problem
thanks

Make 100% sure the blades track properly. a few hours ago i got back from tracking the blades on my night bird. At first it could barely stay in the air inverted, and with only one correct turn on the main grip link it felt like a rocket again. It weights 900g and i can squeeze 5 mins out of a pack and charge about 1700mAh back

i listed the link to my motor on previous post and i am using a 13t pinion

Try an 11 tooth pinion.
It would be a better match to your motor and head speed.

Actually i did and same thing
do u think my motor might be defective cause my first ESC was defective
also i plugged a 50a esc and all the servos start shaking by them self it even has the BEC but still all the servos shake
and the 50a ESC will not beep when i try to set the throttle range
let me know
thanks

Yes, I know it's upside down.

+1. When I did my first HK450 build, I was only getting 2 minutes of hover. I had not even heard of blade tracking at that time, and it was out by quite a bit. Sounded really cool in the air though.
