I havent flown it yet, I have been fiddling trying to install a GWS 5043 prop into a nose cone, and a few other bits. What I can say is that with only a 5A draw I got a 325mah battery which slides right up behind the motor and appears to acheive the reccomended cog with no extra weight added. we will see if that works.

with only 5A draw I could have even gone with a lighter esc and lost 4~5g of weight.

We took it on the chin with a two FF Corsair flyoff yesterday between me and my friend. My 3S 350mah Blue lipos keep getting shorter and shorter flight times. I guess I must be ruining them flying to too low of a voltage. The second battery died at 2:20 into the flight and crashed breaking the motor mount cowling. It was flying great up till then. My friend installed a non stock motor and 18 amp esc in his. I would guess it was not balanced correctly and never really made it into the air. One of those crazy go everywhere and then crash kind of hand launches. Still good fun.

I saw a 3 blade gws 6030 EP propellor on headsuprc and bought a few thInking I could eek out a little more speed out of my FF Corsair. I suppose I could have used a propellor calculator but for me it's fun to actually test them. Here's what I got.

Stock motor, 3S 350mah, 2 blade gws 6030 EP prop
Amps - 9.4
Watts - 104.3
Thrust - 305 g

Stock motor, 3S 350mah, 3 blade gws 6030 EP prop
Amps - 10.1
Watts - 108.5
Thrust - 325 g

So not a big improvement but a little faster.

If I was gonna do a motor upgrade on this plane, what would be my best way to go? Should I do a motor with a higher kv or lower kv?

Motor upgrade?? Have you tried it on 3S yet? You may find that a simple battery swap from 2S to 3S will give you more speed than you need! I used a 3S Thunder Power G3 350 mAh and the thing got out of sight faster than I could see it.

Still have the battery, by the way, but not the airplane if anyone is interested in buying it. Just sitting here in storage charge with only about 10 (short) flights on it.

I blew my esc on this plane I think. Looking to get a new motor and esc. I just purchased a Turnigy 3S 370mAh battery. Needs some suggestions for the motor and esc. I was looking at the GENS ACE Mars Brushless Motor Mars-BL2738-3430KV w/30A ESC Combo for RC Airplanes on hobbypartz.com

Could use some opinions if this would be a good fit for my plane

you might want to look for something else.

Seriously, I would read this thread a bit before you buy. Hate to discourage you, but those that have had good experiences with these have been the exception, and it is a credit to their ability to fix all the things that are wrong with them.

I second that. I have actually had more fun trying to rebuild the plane in a more flyable configuration than I have flying it. As a matter of fact I probably haven't put ten batteries threw it in 6 months and I have probably flown a hundred batteries in that time.
