+1 I'm very interested to see how this pans out. Especially in UAV form.

Hi,

Symon here from www.ardrone-flyers.com this is a great modification.

Will the Sketch be released for carrying out such mod.

I would also love to know if your sending the setup and flat trim instructions to the Drone before take off.

We on ARDF's are watching you on this one.

Symon.

We can save more weight if we could use an Arduino with Wi-Fi shield like http://asynclabs.com/store?page=shop...category_id=11

Unfortunately it's out of stock , so I could not try.

The YellowJacket is back in stock.

It's an Arduino with Wifi built in on board. This is perfect to put on the drone. It should save us a lot of weight and space. If it works, we will only need to spend $55 to make Ar.Drone RC enabled

Most definiatly, I will post everything. After all, I got most of the ideas and bits of code from various sources like

- diydrones.com. Really like this site, so very open and helpful
- "MAPGPS" over the Ardrone API forum
- The Air Drone forum at http://www.air-drone.de/
- Ar Drone Flyers at www.ardrone-flyers.com
- And of course, the one and only, RC Groups

However, I'm too embarassed to post the code right now. It's very ugly

Let me clean it up a bit.

If it works, this will be better. I'm putting in an order for one.

I see that they will shipping the yellowjacket out to the retailers also. The Robot Shop here in Canada stocks them. I'll put an order in when they get them back in stock. Do you use 5 channels on the assan or just 4?

We need 5 channels. 4 for the normal movement and 1 for take off and landing. I checked the specification of the YellowJacket. It has enough digital inputs.

But it's possible to use only 4ch RX, just need some creative stick movement combination to take off and land.

Great mod.

I would also like to know the height limit of this thing. Does it get all shaky 100 ft up or will it stay stable? If it needs that camera for stability I'm guessing there is a limit?

A 4 ch rx would be even smaller and lighter. Will a 2.4 rx work or will a conflict arise?

I'm using the Assan 2.4GHz module from HobbyCity

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=8286

I did not see any radio interference.

I also have Spektrum Radio. Will try it out when I have a chance.

Doh!! Should of realized it was 2.4 I see your 2.4 tx antenna now.
I have 2.4 FPV gear and this will really work out. A small camera(10-20g's) out front, above the stock camera, a 2.4 100mw vtx mounted on the tail. The yellowjacket and rx(72mhz) in the middle, above the battery. You can really have some fun. If you wanted to try a gopro, this may work also. A bit heavier though.

Hi Mheeli,

Thank you ever so much for adding more details to your original post and uploading the sketch.

This is absolutely amazing that you have managed this.

was just a matter of time. the extra weight is nothing to me, since one of mine will be reset on a carbon frame anyways to get rid of the hauls. nice work!
