Jetco Models

I found this inside the box of another old kit. Notice the prospected date of production for each kit. Some were not done in 1958.

And, they did not always make aircraft

I have the Jetco Rearwin Speedster kit (1958). Does that make it an old timer or Vintage kit eligible for the 2011 build-off?

Yes it does. I would save the kit and use the kit parts as patterns. Then hand cut new parts using the patterns to make a new kit. You would still have the old kit and a new plane

I agree with you, orange&white, kits must be left untouched!! Parts must be taken from die cut or printed sheets and buying additional sheet and strip to make the model. Even the plan should be copied so the original is not damaged.

The plans were scanned and copied a year ago to a couple of the above noted models. Repro parts were laser cut too.

Notice that the Jetco ambhib does not show up?

Is there any information on the Satellite Saucer? Have not seen this in any of the yearbooks that I have. I do have a few of the Jetco kits in my collection.

You guys are a great source of information. Thanks

Jetco grew out of Jasco, Frank Zaic's company. Many of the Jasco designs were re engineered, modernized, and simplified by Frank Ehling. An example is the Thermic 72 shown. The original Jasco Thermic 72 is notably different, and (because I built and flew one while in high school) a much more attractive airplane. Same is true of the original Thermic 50 and 50-X.

Ehling 'dumbed down' the Jasco designs, presumably for cheaper production, to their detriment. The results are structurally, aerodynamically and aesthetically inferior to the originals.

I just got the PT-19 kit.
I have the plans for the Mooney Mite too.
I'm going to build one of them this winter.

Hello pd1, could you please scan both plans, the PT19 and the Mooney Mite and share them here? I want to have both plans. Thanks you.
